Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Marketing Manager will work alongside the Director of Marketing to drive revenue, grow the fan base, and elevate the D.C. United brand. The Marketing Manager will be responsible for D.C. United’s Grassroots & Experiential Marketing vertical, as well as Project & Traffic Management, and Campaign Creation & Management. The Marketing Manager will need to be a self-starter, take initiative, lead confidently while being a natural and amiable collaborator. 
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grassroots & Experiential Marketing (60%)  
  • Manage Strategy, Event & Activation Planning, and Execution of Grassroots Marketing efforts  
  • Hire, Train, and Manage Team of Brand Ambassadors (Street Team) 
  • Manage Mascot strategy, requests, and appearances 
  • Work closely with the Sales and Community Relations departments to ovoid overlaps, work collaboratively and efficiently, always striving to achieve established goals  
  • Track, assess, and communicate results of events and efforts on a weekly basis, adjusting and improving on a continual basis as needed 
  • Build relationships throughout the DMV with BIDs (Business Improvement Districts), local leaders or influencers, bars, restaurants, and business owners 
  • Establish connections with businesses or events where marketing trade would be beneficial to the growth of the D.C. United fan base  

Project & Traffic Management (30%)  
  • Oversee small to medium projects from ideation through execution, collaborating cross-departmentally, resolving roadblocks when necessary, understanding and communicating expectations, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery 
  • Understand the needs of a marketing campaign or event, request or obtain all necessary assets, ensuring accuracy and brand standards, and deliver assets to proper channels for public distribution 

Campaign Creation & Management (10%)
  • Assist in the ideation and creation of medium to large-scale marketing campaigns for D.C. United and Audi Field products and events 
     
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS: 
  • 3-5 Years of Professional Marketing Experience 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • You must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination prior to start date
     
COMPETENCIES (KSAs): 
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams 
  • Knowledge or experience using Asana, or other Project Management program 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, follow up/through skills, and the ability to meet strict deadlines and budgets 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, hybrid working environment 
  • Curious attitude, desire to learn, and passion for their work 
  • Sense of humor and friendly demeanor
