Job Description

Location: St Mary’s Stadium and local schools within Southampton

Hours: Full time

Contract Type: Fixed Term contract

Criminal Record Check: Enhanced with Child’s List

Salary: £20,000-£23,500 (depending on experience)

What will you be doing?


We have several exciting opportunities for Youth Workers to join our team and work as part of the charity’s successful Premier League Inspires programme. You’ll be based at one of our local partnership schools in Southampton, coordinating the delivery of the Foundation’s Community and Education based programmes.


You’ll be responsible for educating and promoting our core values of Saints Foundation within the school setting. You’ll be a positive influence, raising the aspirations of pupils and liaising with teachers and parents. Based in a local school, you’ll be working with pupils who are at risk of becoming disengaged, creating key partnerships with other young people’s services and working closely with Foundation Project Officers to carry out monitoring and evaluation to track the impact of delivery.


We have opportunities to work with students in the ranges of 10-16 or 11-16 years old.

You’ll be provided with our Saints Foundation branded uniform supplied by Hummel, and the opportunity to go make a positive input to our local community. You’ll be based at the local school Monday to Thursday and at our office in St Mary’s Stadium on Fridays.

Person Specification

• Experience in the Youth Work or education setting, working with young people aged 10-16, or have a good understanding of alternative school settings in Southampton.

• Experience in leading delivery, developing high quality resources for both classroom and sporting based sessions to young people with varying abilities and needs.

• Have experience in building relationships with hard-to-reach young pupils to encourage positive change.

• Hold or be working towards the Youth Work Level 2 or Effective Mentoring. In addition to holding or working towards a UKCC level 2 qualification in a sport.
