About Hearts of Oak

Founded in 1911, Accra Hearts of Oak SC is the oldest existing Ghanaian football club and with a fan-base of an estimated 8 million, among the most popular clubs on the African continent. The Club has previously won the CAF Champions League, the CAF Confederations Cup, and 20-times its local league, the Ghana Premier League. 

The Phobians currently invest in state-of-the-art training facilities and a new youth academy, while aiming at reinforcing its management team. The Club, therefore, created the position of Technical Director, which it aims to fill now.

The tasks of the Technical Director

The Technical Director will lead the Club’s football operations and is a key contributing member of the club management.

The envisaged tasks include:

  • Set the vision for the Club’s playing style while considering the Club DNA. This will include the development and implementation of a very clear technical plan 
  • Work in conjunction with the other coaches and the CEO to identify and sign players for the first team that fit the playing philosophy, budget, and provide long-term investments for the Club
  • Lead the Club’s annual and on-going player recruitments and transfers
  • Supervision of training and coaching of the first team and oversight responsibility for the youth teams, currently U-20 (Auroras) and U-17 (Royal Oaks)
  • Support and guide the current acting Head Coach
  • Hire and manage high performing sporting staff that can implement the developed technical plan
  • Develop and deliver against specific key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the progress of the plan as well as individual performance against objectives
  • Create a scouting network throughout the country and region that identifies prospects for the Club at all levels
  • Work with the CEO and the Academy Director to ensure that the academy is best-in-class within the region, both from a football- as well as from an academic standpoint
  • Build and maintain working relationships with other football stakeholders in the country, regionally and globally (i.e. the FA, GPL executives, player agents, scouts, and other clubs)
  • Ensure the Club complies with all FIFA, GFA, and GPL regulations

Requirements:

Candidate should have UEFA A Licence (Pro Coaching License preferred), possess a high level of technical and tactical know-how, and have some previous coaching experience.
