Job Description
LeAF Studio’s Sports Specialism provides young athletes with a dual-career provision supporting their Athletic Development across a variety of sporting fields. The school boasts an established football specialism which is proud to have gained cup success at both County and National levels in the 2021/22 season.
The role involves a position embedded within a professional football specialism to undertake football coaching/strength & conditioning support under the supervision of the Head of PE and other S&C staff. We are therefore looking to recruit an individual with a sport coaching/ strength and conditioning background, with an appreciation of how physical assessment impacts upon young player development.
The role is 37 hours per week, Term Time only. Fixed Term for one year.
Successful applicants will be required to:
• Deliver structured training sessions for football teams across the specialism, preparing them for competitive fixtures effectively and attending fixtures as agreed with Head of PE.
• Actively contribute to the physical development and performance of Sport Specialism football athletes (U14-U18/YDP & PDP)
• Assist and lead strength and conditioning/athletic development sessions to other sport specialism students.
• Assist and develop the sport science support (Analysis, nutrition, wellbeing, etc) within the sport specialism
• Plan, record and track training programmes/physical assessments with proficient IT skills
Applicants need:
• FA Level 2 in Coaching Football (UEFA C) minimum
• Experience in strength and conditioning programming
• Experience with monitoring training load/physical assessments
• Access to own transport / ability to travel without compromising punctuality
• Be a committed, well organised individual with excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and unsupervised
Desirable:
• BSc/BA in Sports Coaching / Sport Science / Strength & Conditioning based subject
• In possession of or currently enrolled/plans to enrol on a relevant higher education qualification (e.g. - MSc, MRes)
• In possession of or interest in obtaining a recognised strength and conditioning qualification (e.g. - UKSCA)
Opened in September 2012 and moved into our modern and versatile building in September 2013. LeAF Studio is home to Performing Arts and Sport specialism programmes. LeAF Studio joined Ambitions Academies Trust in September 2017. Based in Bournemouth we provide a bespoke education for 13–19-year-olds, combining core curriculum with vocational studies.
