Job Summary


Founded in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is an English Premier League Club, based in North London, with a global following of millions.

Led by the late great Bill Nicholson, the Club became the first in England to win the League and FA Cup Double in 1961, and the first in the UK to win a European Trophy two years later. Spurs has since been home to some of the game’s great entertainers, including Jimmy Greaves, Glenn Hoddle, Paul Gascoigne, David Ginola, Gareth Bale, Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane.

The Club is seeking a Matchday & Event Welfare Officer to support the Welfare team on Matchdays and at events.

Due to the nature of the industry, the working hours are typically evenings and weekends. Safeguarding is fundamental to the success in all that we do.


The welfare of our guests is central to the Spurs experience on Match Day and to the high quality we provide to patrons of all of our Events (matchday, concerts, NFL, Rugby, Boxing, etc).

We are seeking qualified and experienced welfare and safeguarding lead to manage the Event Day Safeguarding and Welfare team, in partnership with other teams, including stewards, catering staff, security, police, ambulance staff, the medical team. All teams are required to coordinate effectively with the multi-disciplinary Control safety team.  

Key Responsibilities


  • manage a safeguarding and welfare (children/adults) team.
  • deliver training, as needed, to stewards/security/welfare staff on match/event days.
  • communicate effectively with parents/carers, children, and other professionals.
  • support de-escalation tactics and working with conflict.
  • lead team to advise and support other members of staff on welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters, and liaise with relevant agencies when required.
  • prioritise children and vulnerable adults’ needs and provide the required support, including when linked to police action. 
  • work with other professionals including Welfare & Safeguarding team members, Stewards, Police, Medics, Ambulance teams, and Control.
