Sporting Kansas City is seeking to fill the role of General Manager, F&B Hospitality at City Foods & Events, the in-house food & beverage department of Sporting Kansas City. As one of the very few team-operated sports and entertainment hospitality companies in the country, City Foods & Events prides itself on creating a world-class guest experience. City Foods & Events executes the hospitality experience for all Sporting Kansas City enterprises including sporting games, concerts, and private events at Children’s Mercy Park, player meals and events at Compass Minerals National Performance Center, concessions at multiple youth sports facilities and even off-site catering opportunities throughout the Kansas City metro.

The General Manager, F&B Hospitality is a member of the Sporting Kansas City Executive Team and is responsible for leading all efforts and exceeding expectations of guest experience, financial performance, and creative execution for hospitality. Essential Functions
  • Serve as the Executive responsible for all food & beverage hospitality operations; collaborating with departments across the entire organization to elevate the hospitality experience for fans, athletes, staff, sponsors, and others who interact with Sporting Club brands.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute the annual hospitality strategic and financial plans in conjunction with department staff and cross-functional departments within the organization.
  • Recruit, hire, and coach hospitality associates, motivating them to deliver their best and enhance the performance and culture within the department.
  • Oversee and enforce best practices and code requirements related to the standards of safety and sanitation in all activities across the department.
  • Oversee departmental financial reporting for operational and capital expenses, along with event recaps. Confirm the adherence to best practice and budgetary restrictions for food costs, labor margins, and other key organizational metrics.
  • Lead the full-time hospitality associates in recruiting, hiring, and training event-day, part-time, and seasonal hospitality associates to ensure flawless execution of service.
  • Develop training and operational systems, policies and procedures that allow the hospitality team to consistently deliver the Sporting Kansas City standards of safety, quality food, remarkable service and pristine cleanliness.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of all food menus, wine lists and beverage menus, as well as daily specials for food and drinks.
  • Establish a rapport with fans, members, guests and groups to ensure satisfaction and when necessary, address complaints in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for developing and managing effective asset management programs in all Sporting Kansas City Hospitality facilities, including daily cleanliness, sanitation, organization, safety and preventative maintenance.
  • Represent Sporting Kansas City in a professional manner at all times.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
 
Matchday Responsibilities
  • Full-time associates act as representatives of Sporting Kansas City at all home matches, engaging with guests and working to create Magic Moments for all fans.
  • Execute the culinary plan.
  • Schedule and manage staffing for culinary teams.
  • Direct setup and closedown of culinary operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Culinary Arts or other related field preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of food and beverage and/or hospitality management experience, including a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a senior manager and/or director level position at a stadium, arena, or other high-volume public assembly venue required.
  • Extensive experience successfully managing and operating a budget.
  • Strong knowledge of food service techniques and cost controls such as manpower, productivity, food cost and other expenses.
  • Prior experience preparing marketing plans.
  • Ability to express service excellence and product knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of all Health Department Regulations.
  • Understanding of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Capacity to adapt to the unique and vibrant Kansas City market.
  • Fluency to speak, read, and write in the English language.
  • Spanish fluency preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Calendar.
