Job Description

About The Role
 
To provide an elite level of physiotherapy service to the U18 squad and assist the Senior Academy Physiotherapist with the operational management of the Academy medical department at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of physiotherapy to PDP and schoolboy players while being expected to be pitch side for training and matches. The candidate will also be expected to upload and maintain medical records on the Football Intelligence Platform (FIP) on a daily basis.
 
General Description
Main Duties
  • Lead the assessment, rehabilitation and pitch-side first aid of the U18 squad
  • Provide line management to the U9-16 physiotherapist, and also assist in duties with the U21 squad where necessary.
  • Assist, and where necessary lead, on department management duties such as; maintaining up to date audit documentation, ensuring compliance with cardiac screening requirements, arranging diagnostic imaging, arranging specialist appointments, insurance pre-authorisation, medical supply ordering, ensuring appropriate medical provision is in place for PDP fixtures (doctor / paramedic)
  • Maintain all professional certifications required for your job role i.e. ATMMiF, HCPC and CSP registrations
  • Demonstrate punctuality with al training sessions and fixtures and ensure all necessary medical equipment is available pitch-side at training and games. 
  • To maintain a professional manner while representing the club and adhere to professional confidentiality. Maintain confidentiality on all medical matters only sharing this with appropriate staff.
  • Liaise with necessary staff and be accountable for day-to-day communication with PDP coach and other members of the Sport Science and Medicine team.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of injury prevention and rehabilitation programmes for Academy players.
  • To assist and assess with the Club Doctor/Senior Academy Physiotherapist on all PDP players regarding fitness and injury status.
  • Provide the appropriate range and quality of treatments befitting a Category Two academy.
  • Keep up to date with current Sport Science and Medicine literature.
  • Coordinate/provide medical education to players in regard to recovery and doping matters.
  • Arrange and undertake appropriate medical examinations of players Including pre-signing medicals, Sport Science assessments and return to play assessments.
  • Log all injuries, SOAP notes and rehabilitation session on the Football Intelligence Platform within 24 hours. Scan results, consultations and player / parent meetings to be recorded as soon as possible.
  • Assist in organising casual staff rota for training and matches for Foundation and Youth Development Phase. 

    Other Responsibilities

  • To be aware of the EPPP rules and requirements relating to the Sport Science and Medicine Department and Academy as a whole.
  • Maintain on contemporary, legible and appropriate medical records, audits, registers and their confidential storage using FIP where needed.
  • To attend staff meetings as required.
  • To attend games as required.
  • Contribute to the academy Sport Science and Medical CPD programme
  • To continually look for ways to develop personally and improve the provision of medical services to the Academy Players.
  •  To deliver a diverse culture that supports fairness in line with the Clubs Vales and behaviours and best practice
  •  Any other reasonable instructions as requested by your Line Manager and or Academy Manager

Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy (Essential)
  • Membership of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (Essential)
  • HCPC Registered (Essential)
  • FA Level 5 ATMMiF (Essential)
  • Appropriate DBS Certification (Essential)
  • MSc Physiotherapy or Equivalent (Desirable)
  • UK Full, Clean Driving License (Desirable)
  • Massage qualification (Desirable)
  •  Acupuncture qualification (Desirable)
