Academy Goalkeeper Coach
Location: Staplewood Training Ground, Southampton
Hours: Full Time, including some evenings, weekends and attendance to home/away matches
Contract Type: Permanent
Criminal Record Check: DBS Enhanced with Childs Barred List
What will you be doing?
You’ll be working closely with the other members of the goalkeeping team and the Head of Technical Development to contribute to a progressive learning environment, which positively impacts goalkeeper’s development and potential to achieve on and off the pitch. You’ll be attending home and away games, and Academy team technical meetings where you’ll provide feedback and recommendations in accordance with your area of expertise.
Specific duties include:
- Work with other members of the Goalkeeping Coaching department and Head of Technical Development to devise and implement a comprehensive Goalkeeping Development programme.
- Conduct daily coaching sessions for the goalkeepers in the 7-18 age group, with a main focus on the 14-16 age groups
- Working within the Southampton GK Development Framework to plan, prepare and evaluate coaching sessions.
- Provide regular verbal/written feedback to players, coaches and parents.
- Work with the Sports Medicine & Science staff to develop players holistically.
- Contribute to the trialling processes and to the Scouting & Recruitment programme.
You will be based at Staplewood Training Ground located in Marchwood, Southampton. Just a 15-minute drive from the city centre and don’t worry there’s free parking. There will also be some travelling for away games and to visit our development centres.
What we are looking for
Essential Qualifications:
- UEFA B GK Licence (or working towards).
- Emergency first aid certificate
- FA child protection and best practice
- Preferably a Coach Education Status
Essential Skills:
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic
- A dynamic coach and student of the game
- A strategic planner, organiser and evaluator
- Confident and a consistent team player
- A people person with good interpersonal skills
