Job Description

Key purpose of the job:

To plan, organise and deliver to elite international standard the training and competition programme of the Men’s Under 17 and Under 19 Teams with the ultimate goal of achieving UEFA Under 17 and 19 Championship Finals qualification.


Main duties and responsibilities:

  1. Prepare the Men’s Under 17/19 teams for competitive and friendly international matches;
  2. Set and agree with the Senior International Team Manager key objectives and targets that help measure job performance and contribute to achieving the Irish FA’s Strategic Plan;
  3. Work with the Senior International Team Manager Men’s Under 21 Manager to establish structures to monitor performances of Under 17/19 squad players;
  4. Work collaboratively with both the International Team Manager. Men’s Under 21 Manager and Elite Performance Director to develop a player pathway and technical programmes that support the identification and development of future international talent;
  5. Project a professional image of Northern Irish football through media and press opportunities in relation to the national Under 17/19 team and in support of Northern Irish football’s ongoing activities and events;
  6. Represent Northern Ireland at FIFA and UEFA symposia and meetings as required; 
  7. Support local and national promotional activities including school and club visits throughout England and meetings of supporters’ groups as required;
  8. Complete other duties appropriate to the role as directed by the International Team manager and the Chief Executive;
  9. Extensive national and international travel is required and antisocial working hours
  10. Proactively participate in all in-service training courses, training and development opportunities, staff performance appraisals and reviews as required;
  11. Adhere to and actively support at all times all company policies, procedures, processes and working practices, including adhering to best practice and to service the Irish Football Association’s policies in line with its development plans;
  12. Any other reasonable duties relevant to the programme and/or the department.
