Job Description

Liverpool FC Foundation is offering an exciting opportunity to create and deliver high-quality employability programmes to provide life-changing opportunities in the most deprived areas of New York and New Jersey, helping to raise the aspiration and job prospects for all participants.

This role will support the development of the LFC Foundation’s flagship international employability programme in New York and New Jersey. The programme combines two of the Foundation’s existing provision:

  • Sport Works – A sport-based skills development programme which develops the employability skills of young people at risk of long-term unemployment
  •  Mentor Works- A programme that utilises corporate volunteers to mentor young participants who engage and complete employment programmes

The Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the successful end-to-end rollout of the Works programme, taking participants from initial engagement during Sport Works, through their mentoring and ultimately supporting their pathway into work experience and eventually meaningful paid work.

What will you be doing?

  • Deliver sport-based employability programmes that both up-skills and raises the aspiration of young people
  • Create curriculum and work with external partners to achieve programme KPIs
  • Identify and recruit young people, working alongside the Foundation’s marketing team
  • Manage the project delivery timetable and work alongside the Foundation’s Liverpool-based team to coordinate the mentoring programme
  • Manage programme logistics include venue-management, transport, food and accommodation
  • Ensure that the monitoring and evaluation framework is carried out effectively to ensure data is captured accurately and in line with our reporting procedures
  • Facilitate work experience placements that support both the young person and the employer
  • Manage the risk across employability programmes to ensure the safety of all young people and staff
  • Continually carry out the quality assurance procedure to ensure consistent delivery of a world-class programme
  • Incorporate the highest safeguarding practices into all your work

Who are we looking for?

To be successful, you must have a proven track record of planning and delivering educational sessions. You will have experience of working with vulnerable adults and knowledge of mentoring in a youth work context.

We’re committing to safeguarding young people, so you must also have a level 1 (or higher) qualification in safeguarding young people, and a strong understanding of good safeguarding practices when working with vulnerable young people. Similarly, we also aim to be the most inclusive football club, so you must be able to demonstrate inclusive youth work practices.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent written, verbal and presentation skills as part of this role. It`s also important to be able to identify and evaluate successes and areas for development. A good knowledge of local industry and experience in signposting young people to further opportunities and competency of the Microsoft office packages will also be essential. 

You will need to be New York/New Jersey based due to the hybrid nature of the role and be flexible to travel to locations across New York/New Jersey in order to deliver the programme in the local communities.

This is a 2 year fixed term contract working 35 hours per week.
