The Community and Social Responsibility Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of D.C. United’s social responsibility work. This role helps plan, implement, and execute community relations and philanthropic initiatives for D.C. United and the D.C. United Foundation. This role oversees a variety of community outreach and impact efforts, including but not limited to our signature programs, recognition events, ticket and merchandise program, league-wide MLS WORKS programs and helps develop and lead fundraising events and programs for the Foundation.
Develop and lead D.C. United Community and Social Responsibility and Foundation events, fundraisers, and programs with the goal of increasing value and overall awareness both internally and externally.
Manage the ticket and merchandise programs (i.e., solicit program application submissions, distribution of tickets and merchandise, maintaining application database and waivers, oversee compiling charitable receipts and response letters).
Manage Community and Social Responsibility programs, initiatives, and communications for partner soccer program events (D.C. SCORES and Special Olympics), game day community programming and special events (including but not limited to organizing D.C. United Alumni appearances, community partner recognition, MLS initiatives and programs).
Develop and maintain relationships with the surrounding communities and groups, non-profit organizations, partners, and donors for both Community and Foundation.
Monitor impact measurement data and reporting for both Community and Foundation.
Act as the game day main contact and facilitator to community partners, Community and Foundation VIP guests, ticket and experience programs, and participants for at-game recognition moments.
Regularly update and review the D.C. United Foundation and Community and Social Responsibility website; write recaps and overviews of Community and Foundation programs, events, and appearances with regular updates provided to appropriate story-telling partners.
1-2 years experience within the sport and community engagement space
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field from an accredited College/University
Experience in social responsibility, partnerships, fundraising and project management
Familiar with the DMV area and key stakeholders in the philanthropic and social impact space
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary
Must be able to lift items up to 40 pounds and remain on your feet for extended durations of time
You must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination prior to start date
Ability to plan, organize and execute multiple projects and events simultaneously
Team player with ability to multitask and manage time effectively, follow through, meet deadlines, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with various audiences internally and externally
Able to stand for long periods of time and load/unload merchandise and equipment
Must be consistent, punctual and reliable with the flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
Flexible and adapts to various environments and situations
High ethical standards and strong sense of confidentiality
Strong written and verbal communication skills
