Job Description

Communications Manager
 
Louisville City FC (USL Championship) and Racing Louisville FC (NWSL) are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and highly proactive Communications Manager to assist with the clubs’ messaging.
 
This position will be responsible for carrying out multiple duties within the communications and marketing departments to elevate exposure in the community as well as inform and entertain fans through compelling story telling and content strategy. The ideal Communications Manager is versatile, ingrained in sports and creative culture, plus can develop projects effectively both individually and within a team setting.
 
This full-time role consists of weekend, night and some holiday work as demanded by teams’ schedules. It will also handle assignments involving the LouCity/Racing youth academies and other events at Lynn Family Stadium.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 •   Plan, write and distribute club announcements and press releases.
•   Pitch and create content, including news articles, feature stories and other updates for team platforms.
•   Tell stories in diverse ways — written, photos, video — in concert with the communications and marketing team.
•   Handle game day media operations, including credentialing, press box management and postgame interviews.
•   Assist with club press conferences and other media availability.
•   Update club websites with team news and information.
•   Craft and send email newsletters and announcements.
•   Assist with the clubs’ social media efforts.
•   Serve as a media contact facilitating interview requests and pitching out stories.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
 •   Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or a related field.
•   Multiple years experience in communications, public relations or story telling roles.
•   Advanced copywriting and verbal communication skills.
•   Exemplary computer skills, including familiarity with website content management systems, e-newsletter platforms such as Mail Chimp and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite software.
•   The ideal candidate brings prior experience with a professional sports team and working knowledge of/passion for soccer.
•   Abilities to write and speak in Spanish are pluses.

 •   The ideal candidate is creative, innovating and original.
•   Must be comfortable working within a fast-pace, deadline-oriented, high-energy environment.
•   Is prepared to work outside of regular business hours, evenings, weekends and some holidays.
•   Well versed in telling stories through various forms of traditional and digital media.
•   Has an ability to juggle multiple assignments, as is the nature of working on multiple teams and properties.
•   Communicates effectively with the public in a professional manner.
•   Can be trusted to act in a manner that is truthful and values direct, honest communication at all levels of the organization.
