Job Description

The Performance Dietitcian will play an integral role in player success. This individual will deliver performance-enhancing services to all athletes by working with team admins and performance staff to coordinate and provide nutritional guidance for meals around training and games and work with athletic trainers to determine individual athlete needs and provide appropriate nutrition strategies via supplements for injured athletes
  • Assess and analyze dietary habits, body composition, blood work, and energy balance of all professional players with regard to athletic performance
  • Work with team admins, chefs, and caterers to coordinate breakfast, lunch, and post-game meals
  • Work with all players to individualize nutrition strategies based on consultation feedback, individual goals, and individual dietary needs
  • Work with individual athletes to monitor the use of supplements, while promoting the NSF Certified for Sport products
  • Oversee and manage food and supplement ordering and distribution
  • Oversee a club wide nutrition philosophy and practices while adhering to budgetary constraints
  • Stay up to date on scientific research and trends with regard to sports nutrition
  • Work with RSL Academy and individual professional athletes to implement nutrition protocols and education
  • Manage distribution and creation of performance nutrition education through documents, presentations, digital communication, and other various teaching methods 
  • Maintain effective communication regarding athlete nutrition with the Senior Director of Athlete Health and Performance, performance coaches, and athletic trainers
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Athlete Health and Performance in the development and growth of the Real Salt Lake Nutrition Program 
  • Develop and grow a performance nutrition philosophy which integrates into the vision and structure of the RSL organization and Athlete Health and Performance Department
  • Execute any other task or duties assigned by the Director of Athletic Performance
  • Bachelor's Degree in clinical nutrition, food and nutrition, food science, sports nutrition or related expertise required
  • Registered Dietitian required
  • Master's degree in nutrition, food science, or exercise physiology preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sports Dietitian within a professional, private, or collegiate program
  • Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics preferred
  • Ability to accurately measure and assess body composition
  • Knowledge of food service quality and safety practices
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and counseling skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and record keeping abilities
  • Self-motivator, ability to work independently as well as within a group
The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 50 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, etc.
