Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced candidate to join the Finance Team at Norwich City Football Club in the role of Finance Accountant. This is an excellent role for someone with strong technical and analytical skills, possessing the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be ACA/ACCA qualified with significant audit experience, as well as advanced excel skills with key focus on cashflow forecast modelling.

Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monthly consolidation and completion of the Group’s financial statements
  • Play a leading role in the preparation of the monthly Executive Finance Pack for submission to the Head of Finance in accordance with the financial reporting timetable, including but not limited to; year to date performance vs budget, rolling full year P&L analysis, cashflow forecasts and other key points or concerns to highlight
  • Being a key player for the year-audit audit process, with audit file preparation, liasing with the external auditors and tax accountants for the completion and presentation of the consolidated statutory financial statements
  • Managing the interim audit process, liasing with external auditors and tax accountants for the completion, presentation and submission of the consolidated interim financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of financial packs to meet league reporting requirements and compliance
  • Support the reporting team with the preparation of department management accounts and completion of monthly one-page financial performances summaries
  • Production and submission of the quarterly VAT returns with associated reconciliation whilst ensuring Club compliance with new MTD requirements
  • Lead the Club’s approach to compliance on MTD requirements by performing internal reviews of current processes and policies and recommending a continuous improvement plan
  • Preparation and submission of EC sales lists
  • Production of quarterly corporation tax forecasts with management of the instalment payments required in line with HMRC regulations
  • Managing and reviewing ad-hoc employment tax and VAT requirements for overseas player trading and loan players
  • Liasing with HMRC on tax matters and ad-hoc tax audits
  • Reviewing and managing monthly balance sheet and intercompany account reconciliations
  • Preparation and submission of ONS surveys
  • Any other tasks as required to achieve the team strategy set out by the Finance Director
