Sporting News is looking for a Social Content Producer who can enhance the company brand and build strong online communities through its social media channels.

Sporting News, a sports media publication that originated in the United States in 1886, has editions in Canada, Australia and Japan, and we’re excited to grow our operations in the UK market.

The Social Content Producer will be responsible for developing and administering social media content that is designed to engage users and create an interactive relationship between sports fans and Sporting News.

The successful candidate will also be required to collect and review social media data to develop more effective content strategies.

Your daily duties will involve producing content and posting to our social platforms. You should be on top of the biggest sports topics of the day as well as what’s happening in pop culture and entertainment, plus the latest digital media trends.

You’ll be collaborating with different parts of our editorial team, so an enthusiasm toward brainstorming with others is essential.

You should have a strong knowledge of most UK sports, including being able to recognise the stats and data that can transform into meaningful content, and what resonates with different fan bases. And, your love of sports should come through on our social channels. This position requires a lot of hard work, but it also should be a lot of fun!


  • Produce daily original content for Sporting News’ social media platforms, including graphics and videos, and proactively engage the rest of the editorial team to develop ideas for campaigns and creative assets
  • Amplify the Sporting News brand voice through content production and engagement
  • Manage and monitor the daily output of Sporting News’ social media accounts
  • Act as a community manager that engages with SN’s audience
  • Contribute ideas for the daily creation of multimedia and editorial content
  • Submit creative team briefs and create original social graphics (via multimedia templates) to illustrate the most important and engaging moments in sports
  • Coordinate with other content and social producers to execute against major tentpole events and content plans
  • Create, maintain and frequently reference content calendars and strategies
  • Consistently schedule out relevant content across social platforms
  • Write articles based on the news and what’s trending on social media
  • Monitor insights and analytics to help assess performance and social channel growth


  • Exceptional multi-tasking skills — must be able to monitor breaking news and developing stories and react accordingly
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment — must make appropriate decisions based on new information and adjust the content being shared accordingly
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to plan ahead and build comprehensive social strategies around upcoming events
  • Creativity — not settling for the ordinary, willing to think big and look for new ways to create engaging content
  • Mastery of clean writing and concise copy
  • An understanding of emerging social media trends
  • Knowledge of social analytics tools
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
  • A strong, versatile understanding of most major UK sports, and a willingness to learn others outside your comfort zone
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required
  • At least one year of experience in social media publishing, preferably in sports


  • Basic video editing skills using Premiere/Adobe Creative Suite
