Job Description

Our Organisation

The Football Association (The FA) is the governing body of football in England. We are responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels; from grass roots through to the professional game, The Emirates FA Cup and the England International teams, and has two core assets: Wembley Stadium and St George's Park.


The Role

We are searching for a pool of Casual workers to join our Events Day team as Supervisors, the Supervisor will be responsible managing staff to ensure they understand and are compliant with the Steward Code of Conduct. You will provide support to ensure staff are checked in, equipped correctly and deployed to the correct location.


Key Responsibilities

The supervisor's primary role is to ensure the safety and welfare of all spectators regardless of age, gender, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability or the team they support. The supervisor is also responsible for a number of safety stewards within a designated part of the stadium. The supervisor is led by the Quadrant Supervisor. Other duties include:

  • To be able to understand verbal and written instructions and communicate clearly with spectators,
  • To be smartly dressed, appearance should be neat and tidy and are to wear the high visibility jacket or bib appropriate to their position at all times,
  • To understand their general responsibilities towards health and safety and welfare of all spectators, other stewards and themselves,
  • To carry out safety checks,
  • To have leadership qualities, interpersonal skills and ability to control those working under their direction,
  • Throughout the event they should be proactive in observing the area of which they have control,
  • They should direct stewards to respond to incidents in areas without having to wait for instructions from the management team or Safety Officer,
  • A supervisor should debrief their stewards after the event and report any incidents or deficiencies in the stadium,
  • To assist with the safe operation of the ground, not to view the activity taking place,
  • To assist the emergency services as required,
  • To provide basic emergency first aid,
  • To respond to emergencies, raise the alarm and take the necessary immediate action,
  • To undertake specific duties in an emergency or as directed by the safety officer or the appropriate emergency service officer.

  • Essentially, the Event Day Supervisor must have obtained or is working towards a NVQ level 3 in spectator safety.
