Job Description

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC have been Pittsburgh's premier professional soccer team since its inception in 1999, and play in the United Soccer League, one of the largest and fastest growing professional soccer organizations in North America. The Riverhounds are seeking a Director of Marketing. This position is responsible for building the fan base, creating awareness campaigns, engaging fans across platforms, this will include promotions, advertising, and community relations. This position will also lead the development and execution of strategic marketing campaigns and proactive communications efforts. The primary focus of this position will be the planning, development, and implementation of all communications and digital partnerships sales strategies while providing dynamic storytelling. Marketing will be responsible for hitting KPI’s across all lines of business.

Duties & Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Develops and executes external marketing plans for the Riverhounds. This includes contracting with external media outlets such as radio, newspaper, digital, billboard, and television, producing artwork, and scheduling ad buys in the above media. 
  • Build and promote the team’s awareness, brand and reputation to develop deep local relationships with fans, local partners, and key stakeholders. 
  • Create and implement creative and innovative advertising, branding and promotional and grassroots campaigns across multiple platforms. 
  • Define and guide the brand’s voice on all team social channels. 
  • Analyze market research and data and make recommendations regarding selling strategy and tactics. 
  • Lead all digital and social media initiatives while simultaneously focusing on brand awareness, sport growth and sponsorship assets. 
  • Plan, purchase, produce, and oversee advertising and promotional campaigns to drive brand awareness and fan engagement across all channels (TV, radio, print, digital media, outdoor and social media) and platforms (live events, in-stadium and digital). 
  • Oversee social media channels, website, emails and other communication channels. 
  • Develop and implement consistent and unified brand strategy 
  • Lead the content strategy.
  • Actively seek out industry best practices, especially through the implementation of new technologies, to drive business forward. 
  • Report on marketing KPI’s such as leads, conversion rates, website traffic, and track email campaign metrics. 
  • Partner closely with the sales team to ensure that all marketing efforts maximize ticket sales initiatives and partnership opportunities. 
  • Lead the team’s involvement in grassroots marketing efforts and social responsibility efforts. 
  • Develop day-of-game fan experience. 
  • Own the marketing budget and deliver against KPI’s metrics for the Marketing function. 
  • Identify opportunities to integrate campaigns throughout Marketing, Communications, Corporate Partnerships, Ticket Sales, Entertainment, and Community Impact. 
  • Oversee the planning and purchasing of media when necessary to strengthen campaigns. Serve as the primary point of contact for promotional agreements (paid and trade) with media partners. 
  • Recruit and hire Marketing Interns. 
  • Develop relationships with media representatives to create opportunities that elevate the profile of the team. 
  • Additional duties as assigned. 
  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • At least 3 years experience is preferred, ideally in the sports and entertainment industry.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Team player willing to do what is needed to elevate the club and colleagues. 
  • Willingness to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
  • Proven track record of developing, executing, and measuring marketing campaigns. 
  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within cross-departmental teams. 
  • Detail-oriented and able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional attitude. 
  • Self-starter with good follow-through and the ability to take direction.
