The Department

Our IT Department provides a range of expertise across Aston Villa Football Club ranging from core infrastructure (networking, firewalls, WiFi, storage, virtualization, servers, SAN's, telephony), SaaS cloud platforms such as O365, Azure, CRM, HR, Payroll along with day to day desktop support. This is a fast paced and dynamic environment focused on meeting and exceeding the IT demands of a premier league club.

The Club recognises that our IT systems are integral to everything we do and it is vital that we protect our service from any threats. Cyber security is a fast paced, complex and dynamic field in which we fundamentally recognise the importance of protecting and safeguarding the Club’s infrastructure. We are keen to ensure that we have robust detection processes, necessary operational resilience levels, and effective responses to counter any emerging cyber security threats.

The Role

Aston Villa Football Club are seeking a qualified, experienced, and highly self-motivated individual to join our IT department in the position of a Cyber Security Specialist. In this role you work closely with the Head of IT, Operations Director, Legal department, and IT senior engineers as well as other stake holders.

In this role, you will play a critical, important role in assisting Aston Villa Football Club with understanding and meeting the challenges of the cyber security landscape, and you will also help secure the clubs systems from ever evolving security threats and focus on risk mitigation.

Working at Villa Park stadium you will play a key central role in establishing cyber security best practices across all areas of the club. You will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and analysis of the clubs’ systems and SIEM technologies. You will advise on CVE’s, emerging threats, security strategies, policies, and procedures. You will provide incident response as well as vulnerability assessments and remediation. In addition, you will work closely with Legal/DPO in managing DLP/GDPR compliance.

You will also work closely with the senior IT team in building security into all elements of the clubs IT infrastructure and assist with establishing technical architectures. In addition, you will also assist with regular security reviews and assessments of systems.

The Person

The successful candidate will hold a Cyber Security qualification such as SSCP/CISSP. You must have demonstrable experience working within a similar Cyber Security/Info sec role. You will be authoritative about existing security frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST etc. You must have strong knowledge of IT systems such as firewalls, Azure/O365, networks, Active Directory etc.
