Job Description

Wigan Athletic Community Trust is looking to recruit a Secondary Schools Manager to join its successful and respected team in providing a high-quality secondary education offer to secondary schools in Wigan and the surroundings area.

This is a new exciting role within the Community Trust and will manage, lead, coordinate and develop a range of bespoke secondary education programmes including activities to raise the aspirations of students as part of the Supporters Project.

The role will proactively manage the relationships with existing secondary school partners and support the development of the Premier League Inspires programme, ensuring a consistent high-quality delivery to all schools.

Salary: £23,000 - £26,000 per annum

 Length of contract: Fixed term until August 31st, 2023

 You will:

  • Enhance and develop bespoke innovative solutions for secondary schools and their pupils to help raise students aspirations and hopes for the future.
  • Work with selected schools and businesses in Wigan to provide work experience opportunities for Year 10 and 11 pupils.
  • Organise employability and educational activities that help raise the aspiration of pupils and broaden their minds to future career opportunities.
  • Work with Wigan Council and other business’s to identify possible placements for work experience for students.
  • Manage relationships with partners and selected partner schools to ensure that they receive an excellent service and continue to engage with the Community Trust.
  • Manage the performance of staff, addressing development needs and tackling any poor performance effectively.

You will be:

  • Educated to degree standard (or equivalent) in a sport or community development related subject
  • Level Three Award in Education and Teaching (formerly PTLLS)
  • Experience of working and delivering in secondary schools
  • Proven track record of developing and growing community provision
  • Experience of working towards financial and participants key performance indicators
  • Good understanding of secondary education and alternative provision
