Job Description

Mission

The UEFA Intelligence Centre is seeking a highly motivated data scientist to join our team at the heart of European football. You will support the development and delivery of data analyses and reports that deliver balanced insights to UEFA policymakers, decision-takers and other key stakeholders. We are looking for a self-starter who is passionate about football and willing to drive the ongoing development of the most comprehensive off-pitch research centre in football.

Key Responsibilities

- Helping business analysts to storyboard, visualise and analyse data across a range of strategic off-pitch research areas;

- Preparing periodic and ad hoc descriptive and statistical analyses;

- Designing and supporting new and evolving sources in the data warehouse;

- Ensuring scalable data pipelines that provide the necessary data visibility to meet business requirements;

- Developing data integration and frameworks for continually evaluating and maintaining data quality;

- Helping data engineers integrate the data model in the warehouse (SQL + Snowflake)

 

Profile of successful candidate

Experience required:

- 2+ years of experience in data science using R and/or Python

- Experience of working with a sports organisation would be an asset

Education:

- Academic background in statistics, data science, mathematics, economics, or a closely related field

Languages:

- English / Proficient

- French would be an asset

 

Additional requirements:

- MS Excel / Advanced

- Advanced data manipulation and preparation skills

- Strong knowledge of and ability to work with data-related coding packages (e.g. Tidyverse, Selenium, Pandas)

- Hands-on experience working with APIs and scraping data from the web (HTML or JavaScript-based websites)

- Knowledge of Tableau and Dataiku would be an asset

- Ability to code in SQL would be an asset

- Experience with AWS and or Snowflake cloud-based platforms would be an asset
