Education Equality Lead

Full Time, Fixed Term Contract until October 2022

(potential to extend subject to funding)

Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation (MFCF) is the club’s independent charity set up in 1996 by chairman Steve Gibson. We use the power of the MFC brand to engage with the community to provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people and adults to maximise their potential to achieve.

Based at MFCF’s offices at the Herlingshaw Education and Sports Centre, Eston this is an exciting and unique opportunity to be involved in a growing and passionate team within an award-winning professional football club charity. You will use the influence of sport to deliver positive change in the lives of individuals and groups within the local communities. You will impact our communities and help create a more inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment for all.

The Role:

  • Developing and delivering equality resources in primary and secondary school settings via classroom and sports-based sessions to educate against racism
  • Enhance MFC Foundation’s Premier League (PL) Primary Stars, PL Inspires, PL Kicks and wider programme portfolio offering in relation to racial equality education and wider anti-discriminatory workshops, including the nine protected characteristics
  • Delivering provision in primary and secondary educational settings that are safe, high quality and impactful
  • Promote change and positively challenge discrimination
  • Promote the vision, mission and core values of MFC Foundation
  • Engage and aid development of community-based equality initiatives
  • Support MFC Foundation in the delivery of their Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive practices, ensuring equal opportunities for all
  • Be committed to continuous personal professional development
  • Build trusted and reliable relationships as a role model for young people

Candidates should:

  • Possess a strong understanding of inequalities existing on Teesside and knowledge of effective engagement techniques to combat them
  • Have good knowledge of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and the nine protected characteristics.
  • Have an understanding and passion for improving the ability, opportunity and dignity of disadvantaged people in our communities.
  • Have experience in delivering educational workshops and sports provision within disadvantaged communities and possess a passion for the community and making a difference to the lives of young people.
  • Be able to develop and support opportunities for under-represented groups or individuals.
  • Be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of first-class safeguarding practices.
  • Be comfortable leading delivery of sport-based and educational sessions.
  • Have experience of working towards targets and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be flexible since evening and/or weekend working, with travel, will be required in relation to delivery timetables.
  • Hold a valid driving licence and have own transport, or access to suitable transportation
  • Be eligible to work in the UK
