Referee Development Officer
Contract: Permanent, full-time (35 hours per week)

The Amateur Football Alliance was formed in 1907 and is unique among County FAs in not being based around a particular geographical area, although most of our clubs are in London and the Home Counties. We provide and support football wholly outside the football pyramid for those who play for the joy of playing, for to build lasting friendships and play in clubs who are inclusive of all ability levels. We work in alliance with many clubs and competitions to protect and preserve the original amateur spirit, whilst priding ourselves on the skill and competitiveness of our leagues and on our traditions of fair play and respect for opponents and match officials.
We are about to embark on a new strategy planned to 2024, within which, the growth and development of match officials is embedded. Alongside the Amateur Football Alliance Referee Strategy, we want to develop the coverage, culture, and quality of our registered match officials. This will be supported through driving the number of match officials who are recruited, converted, retained, developed and subsequently, progressing along the referee pathway. The Referee Development Officer will be responsible for the delivery of these objectives. They are also responsible for ensuring safeguarding procedures and protocols are in place to ensure match officials are in a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment.
The role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual passionate about enhancing the development of referees within the Amateur Football Alliance. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience within refereeing already and be able to work independently, as well as part of a team. Having the ability to manage and prioritise your workload, plan and achieve objectives by deadlines, as well as strong communication and customer service skills are also valued attributes.
