Job Description

Title – Soccer Coach (PCA and Professional Skills Program)

Department – Liverpool FC International Academy SoCal (LFC IA), Irvine, California

Reports To – LFC IA Director of Recreational Programs; LFC IA Program Directors; LFC IA COO

Employment Status – Full & Part Time

Rate – Starting at $23.25hr

Start Date - Immediate (Sept 2021)

LFC IA “Pre Club Academy” Program (PCA):

The PCA is a program that offers organized soccer for players who want to play at a more competitive level, but want to remain in Recreational Soccer. It serves as a fantastic platform for the players that want to push themselves and eventually be part of the club soccer world.

Our program was founded in the Spring of 2014 to create a bridge between recreational and club soccer. With player development and progression in mind LFC IA identifies and invites players from the local area to work with professional coaches twice a week to cultivate their soccer skills and techniques.

The PCA prides itself on its professional coaching and development philosophy.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Access to a vehicle and room in a house share (rent & utilities paid by coach) may be provided/optional for all seasonal staff. Coach must have a valid driver's license on file with LFC IA.
  • Coaches must be in compliance with US Club Soccer coaching requirements which includes obtaining an online coaching license, undertaking livescan (fingerprinting) and completing required safeguarding courses. These can be completed after job offer.
  • Coaches will also be required to adhere to, and sign, a code of conduct.
  • Approx # hours per week – 30-35 (FT coaches)

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design and deliver progressive sessions to the club’s boys and girls PCA
  • Ensure sessions are continually challenging in order to facilitate individual player development
  • Monitor player performances alongside each team’s progress within the PCA
  • Deliver all match day preparations, including team selections, warm ups and substitute decisions in accordance with LFC IA program guidelines.
  • Work with the Director of PCA to build teams capable of competing at all age divisions within competitive club soccer.
  • Identify and recruit talented players at lower age levels and those not playing in club.
  • Lead coaching sessions in LFC IA and Junior & Mini Reds clinics and camps.
  • Remain a complete professional in representing LFC IA during tournaments, practices and games
  • Coach within LFC IA Center of Excellence and All Star Programs.
  • Liaise and work with the club School Program Director to deliver After School programs, school engagement programs and other such community outreach programs.
  • Complete weekly administrative, marketing and operational tasks. This may include phone calls and responding to parental questions.
  • Work as part of a team to organize equipment, apparel, uniforms, fields (including set up) as part of pre-program and post program preparations.
  • Set up, manage and tear down practice and game day field(s).
  • Work a coach mentoring program
  • Liaise with parents to provide feedback on the performance and progress of their child
  • Provide twice weekly email to all teams:
    • Mon - Saturday game review & practice topic for week
    • Fri - Reminder of game details - Time/Location. Focus of game based on practice topic
  • Provide player analysis twice through season (Week 4 - Assessment/Focuses) (Final Week - Player Review/Recommendations for future development)
  • Attend occasional meetings at the office.

 

Role of an LFC IA coach:

  • To set high standards of professionalism and demonstrate a high standard of conduct, thus providing a good role model for young players. 
  • To supervise and be responsible for a group of young players at all times during training and game days, ensuring the safety of all as your first priority.
  • A dedication to furthering coach education through adaptation of the Liverpool FC International Academy SoCal ‘5 Star coaching model’ and overall club philosophy in terms of style of play and the methodology behind developing it fully on the training field. 
  • To be able to demonstrate both management and communication skills to players, parents, team managers and LFC IA
  • To set clear expectations to parents on appropriate sideline behavior before, during and after games that upholds the reputation of LFC IA as a youth sports organization and you as an individual. 
  • To promote LFC IA and our programs at all times. 
  • If unable to attend training/game days, the coach must inform their line manager in a timely manner to ensure appropriate cover is found. 
  • Must be punctual at all times. 
  • Must wear LFC IA provided coaching gear for all LFC IA
  • Adhere to LFC IA coaching equipment standards and designated colors 
  • Be willing to assist when necessary, in programs outside the current designated program.
  • Work with assigned line manager for any coverage due to sickness and request, in accordance with a notification time of 4 weeks, any time needed outside of coaching for personal time.

Working Conditions:

Duties may take place in both an office environment as well as outside on a field.
