In August 2019, TKFC LC was granted Major League Soccer’s (MLS) 28th team – St. Louis CITY SC.  The team will be MLS’ first majority female-owned and female-led team, and has its sights set on bringing the MLS Cup to America’s first soccer capital. The team’s new, state of the art soccer stadium is being built on approximately 30 acres in the Downtown West area of St. Louis. Seating capacity of the open-air stadium will be approximately 22,500, with the ability to expand to approximately 25,000. The team will work to catalyze the development of a Downtown West District around the stadium of mixed-use retail, restaurants and gathering spaces that will be open and accessible to residents and visitors beyond the approximate 20 home games a year. The venue may also host concerts, high school and collegiate sports events and tournaments, soccer camps, family shows and more. The team’s administrative offices and training facility will be located immediately adjacent to the stadium in Downtown West.  

II. The Opportunity:
The Community Relations Director is responsible to successfully assist with developing and implementing fully integrated Community Relations programs for the St. Louis region and surrounding areas.
  • Understands organizational and departmental goals in an effort to successfully identify key Community Relations plans for cross-platform campaigns that incorporate multiple departments. Platforms and programs can include staff volunteerism, activities, players/coach appearances, equipment drives and support for other cause-based organizations and platforms (Special Olympics, Pride Night, Salute to Service, Kick Childhood Cancer) 
  • Actively engage in community relations activities internally and externally 
  •  Manages donation requests as needed. 
  • Builds relationships with community leaders, community relation peers at other local teams and corporate partners. 
  • Ideates, budgets and executes community platforms and programs that drive awareness and garner local and national media coverage. 
  • Develops organizational strategies to grow community relations efforts in the St. Louis region and surrounding areas to amplify league-wide campaigns through local fanbase. 
  • Manages all charitable donations on behalf of St. Louis City SC: 
    • Reevaluate and manage CITY SC charitable donation process to maximize fiscal responsibility, sustainability & community impact. 
    • Develop processes, coordinate and manages player engagement on behalf of CITY SC. 
    • Maximize efficiencies with donation process, updates guidelines and reimagines donation handoff. 
    • Fulfills and coordinates all donated experiences (tickets, player involvement, matchdays etc.). 
    • Track and report monthly and annual donation impact. 
    • Manage donation inventory and donation budget and inventory. 
    • Streamline and standardize donation requests/processes both internally and externally.
  •  Manage MLS WORKS Programming and Events: 
    • Act as the St. Louis CITY SC lead for MLS WORKS program requests and updates. 
    • Activate MLS WORKS’ Kick Childhood Cancer, Soccer for All, Community MVP/Humanitarian of the Year programs as a secondary priority to St. Louis City SC community areas of impact. 
    • Aligns these resources with the club’s commitment to its’ community playbook. 
    • Collaborate to maximize integration and consolidate internal requests to create comprehensive impact. 
    • Attend weekly MLS WORKS meetings and update MLS WORKS on all CITY SC activities. 
    • Compile end of year report for MLS WORKS. 
    • Collaborate with MLS WORKS to amplify and align CITY SC programming work.
  • General Event Activation: 
    • Coordinate and manage all community events, including but not limited to the following: 
    • Service Opportunities • Lead recruitment, communication, and facilitation of all internal and external volunteer opportunities. Track and report monthly and annual service impact. 
    • Manage activation of matchday programming at the stadium in partnership with partnership marketing team. 
    • Track and report monthly to corporate partnership team on collaborative activations between partners and Social Impact. Speaker Series, Guest Appearances. Coordinate logistics of CITY SC.
  • 5+ years of experience in event management, social impact or community outreach-related field”. 
  • 2+ years’ experience managing donations on behalf of an organization. 
  • Prior experience interacting with former or current athletes preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to forge strong relationships with varying personalities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in all forms. 
  • Positive, professional demeaner, with ability to be discrete.
