Role Description

Lead the strategic and operational development of Performance Psychology services to all England women's teams and lead the delivery of the Performance Psychology service to the England women's senior team.

You will also be responsible for overseeing and managing the Mental Health Strategy for England teams.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the development of an overall strategy for Performance Psychology to all aspects of the psychological, social and cultural development of England women's teams.
  • Deliver Performance Psychology services to the Women's England senior team, working with players, head coach, coaches and support staff to create a high performance culture and development of psychological resilience for success at the highest levels of tournament football.
  • Lead the operational delivery of interventions and training which enables the development of world leading capabilities in resilience, identity, leadership, and high performance team culture.
  • Develop and facilitate the delivery of a comprehensive off-camp programme for National Coaches that enables the development and maintenance of Performance Psychology support services across all England pathway teams.
  • Ensure communication through collaborative club engagement processes to inform insights of England players.
  • In collaboration with the mental health team and designated external support provider, facilitate the delivery of a broad mental health curriculum for England women's teams.
  • In collaboration with the mental health team and designated external support provider, facilitate the provision of mental health support to FA leadership teams and the wider FA worforce.
  • Lead a programme of research to underpin service delivery and ensure connection to best practice.
  • Contribute to the Performance Psychology services within the England women's Blueprint curriculum.
  • Further develop and maintain effective and efficient collaborative work across Insights and Analysis departments.
  • Plan and manage departmental budget.
  • Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
What we are looking for

 

Essential

  • Undergraduate degree in Psychology, Sports Psychology or a related field of study.
  • British Psychological or British Association of Sport and Exercise Science practitioner accreditation.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Extensive experience in leading people and team development in an elite sport or business context such as psychological support, coaching, mentoring and elite team development.
  • Proven track record in managing teams of practitioners and external service providers.
  • Outstanding academic and applied knowledge of contemporary practice in related areas.
  • Track record of successfully integrating into established and developing coaching & management teams.
  • Highly resilient with a track record of delivering in highly pressurised environments.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Outstanding delivery of people delivery interventions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent relationship builder.

 

Desirable

  • Masters or doctorate degree in sports or clinical psychology.
  • Experience in International sport.
  • Experience in International or club football.
