We are responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels; from grass roots through to the professional game, The FA Cup and the England International teams, and has two core assets: Wembley Stadium and St George’s Park.

Role Description

To work with key stakeholders to identify, recruit, develop and support the deployment of female coaches across the region.  Working closely with County Football Associations (CFAs), the Women's High-Performance Football Centre (WHPFC) CDOs and other key stakeholders to increase the number and quality of female coaches across the Grassroots game.

Key Accountabilities

Support the delivery of ‘equal opportunities for every girl to play in their school and club' and ‘use our influence to deliver a game free from discrimination' changer objectives by:

Providing coach development to female coaches across the Grassroots game:

  • Support County Football Associations (CFAs) with the delivery of their ongoing and wider coach development offer
  • Work closely with CFAs to target where the priority areas are and create a sustainable and inclusive development plan
  • Work closely with Leagues, Clubs and other providers within the CFAs to establish “female friendly” environments which will attract more females into coaching
  • Provide support to CFA's creating local communities of practice
  • Develop sustainable and inclusive development programmes to create personalised and connected learning experiences for female coaches

Maximise strategic relationships with key stakeholders across the female game:

  • Build strong relationships with key personnel within CFAs and other key stakeholders
  • Ensure connection and alignment between all programmes across the region
  • Build strong relationships and work collaboratively with the Women's High-Performance Centre (WHPC) Coach Development Officer (CDO) in creating coach development plans for female coaches across Grassroots female football
  • Work closely with the Learning and Development team and collaborate with the W&G team to develop relevant content, providing technical input specifically in the creation of female game, female coach specific content and resources
  • Work with the Learning and Development team to ensure high quality and consistent delivery of coach education and development

Additional responsibilities:

  • Identify, support and sign-post future tutors
  • Identify, recruit, support mentors and future mentors aligned to central strategy for the Grassroots game
  • Manage and continually review the strategic deployment of mentors within the region to best support the development of coaches within the Grassroots game for female coaches to maximises and have a sustainable impact on the game
  • Support the delivery of FA Education's International delivery programme
  • Provide regular updates and attend meetings
  • Support the development of Coaches in Disability football within the region in Disability specific, Pan Disability and Mainstream game settings
  • Provide an advocacy role within CFA's, leagues and clubs to promote participation of coaches and players with disability and to develop best practice procedures to maximise inclusion
  • Data collection of a sensitive nature (To inform future practice)
  • Looking at non-traditional partnerships and developing delivery practises with a change in culture for D&I
  • Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
What we are looking for

Essential

Knowledge

  • FA Level 2 or working towards UEFA B
  • FA Licensed Tutor
  • Understanding of FA LTPD-4 corner model
  • Knowledge and understanding of the reflective practitioner
  • Complete understanding of the FA DNA, coaching and learning philosophies.
  • Understanding of the FA Women's Football Strategy & National Game Strategy
  • Knowledge and understanding of football development

 

Experience

  • Experience of grassroots football and specifically the female game
  • Experience of developing coaches, in particular female coaches and have an understanding of their specific needs
  • Experience of coach education, coach development and mentoring
  • Experience of undertaking professional learning for adult learners
  • Experience of responding to the development needs of individual coaches

 

Technical Skills

  • Ability to demonstrate a modern, progressive approach to coaching and learning
  • Work as a team member but ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to develop, prioritise, evaluate work programme to best meet the FA Education objectives

 

Desirable

Knowledge

  • Degree level or equivalent calibre desirable
  • Experience of mentoring coaches
  • FA Coaching Disabled Footballers Course
  • Awareness of difficulties facing people with disability/difficulty for inclusion in the mainstream game

Experience

  • Experience of working with County FAs, leagues and clubs
  • Experience of the design/implementation and evaluation of development programmes
