Job Description


The Finance Business Partners (“FBP”) will provide high-level corporate support and advice in one of three key areas of Manchester City and City Football Group’s core activities:

  • Operations, including ticketing, hospitality, facilities, capital expenditure, and the corporate services functions;
  • Football, including men’s first team, academy, and football support functions; and
  • Commercial, including partnerships, marketing, and digital.

The roles involve building and maintaining strong relationships with the Group Leadership Team and their business areas. The FBPs are expected to lead on financial matters; influence decision-making; improve the understanding of business performance; developing and delivering unit strategy; delivering analysis and insight on business opportunities.

Accountabilities with Key Outcomes: 


To become an embedded member of the relevant business area and trusted advisor to senior management, providing expert guidance to support and facilitate effective decision making


Contribute to the development of new/enhanced Finance policies, processes and systems, and lead on the implementation of improvements to drive change in that business area


Lead the successful delivery of the business area’s annual budget and monitor/report outcomes


Develop and implement stakeholder finance strategies and maintain strong trusting relationships with key stakeholder groups to influence decisions and protect the interests of CFG, its partners, and stakeholders.


Develop best practice within the UK and support CFG’s global network of clubs as appropriate


Provide analysis of highly complex data as part of an approach to evidence both project and BAU decisions; providing support in own area of specialism for senior management to drive evidence-based decision-making.



Knowledge, Skills and Experience:  


  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant with 5+ years post qualified experience
  • IFRS accounting standards
  • High emotional intelligence & influencing skills; flexible approach to working with stakeholders with different/competing objectives
  • Positive, open mindset; driver and leader of change
  • Excellent communicating and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence external stakeholders.
  • Significant experience providing the depth and breadth of knowledge needed to be impactful at senior levels.


  • Highly proficient with presentational, spreadsheet, and database software
  • Advanced financial modeller







Job Impact/Influence Measures:

Key leadership role within the UK & Group finance team delivering key outcomes for the Manchester City & International Finance Directors and Group Chief Financial Officer.

Other key Finance relationships will be with Head of Financial Planning & Analysis and Financial Controller.

Key focus of the role is the support of the Group Leadership Team and their individual business units. Managing the complex inter-stakeholder relationships along with their interaction with Finance’s demands is key

Decision-making Authority:

Development of finance approach, strategy, and system development, providing recommendations to Finance Directors based on detailed understanding of business requirements
