Job Description

Brookings Futbol Club/SELECT, “Club” seeks a motivated, inspiring and dedicated leader to become the Club’s full time Director of Coaching (“DOC”). The candidate should be a leader, educator and have a “player first” philosophy and the ability to work well with coaches and others. The DOC will serve as the face of the program and be a great ambassador for the club and community. This candidate should have a passion to lead a non-profit community soccer club, be a person that cares about the club, its players and community, and strives to develop players to their highest desired level.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Staffing - responsible for placement of all staff to ensure efficiency in staffing plan.
  • Recruitment and retention of coaching staff to provide consistency and quality of delivery
  • Implement coach evaluation process, to ensure that all coaches receive ongoing & consistent performance-based feedback that is in line with the club coaching/style of play.
  • Identify and directly manage education and development requirements and opportunities for the Club’s coaches.
  • Ensure that feedback is provided on an ongoing basis & in line with the competitive calendar. This feedback should be designed to retain players & grow the club player numbers
  • Ensure through clear, consistent & professional communication that all parents are clear in their understanding of the role parents play in the development of their children. The opportunities available & the expectations placed on parents with regards to practice & game day.
  • Retain and build new partnerships with town programs, parks and recreation departments, University and any other vendor that offers soccer programming
  • Establish Club’s overall technical vision and plan in accordance with the Club’s overall mission and vision statement.
  • Act as the Club’s chief spokesperson for Club-level technical matters involving South Dakota State Soccer Association and other governing bodies and leagues.
  • Work with Recreational Soccer Director to create a pathway from Recreational to Competitive Soccer.
  • Manage indoor training facility by establishing schedules for club activities while also working to establish other activities that could generate revenue for club. Internships with local university could be leveraged for assistance.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum USSF C license or United Soccer Coaches National Diploma equivalent or higher is preferred.
  • College level playing experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience at the youth level.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and ability to work in an office environment.
  • Experience with overseeing recreational and competitive soccer programs.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to host meetings and talk to large groups.
  • Clear knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
