Job Description

The Premier League is responsible for the development of the Professional Game coaching workforce in partnership with the Professional Game partner organisations (PL, FA, EFL, PFA, LMA) via the ongoing delivery of the Integrated Coaching Strategy (ICS.) The Premier League have developed a long-term strategic plan named the Elite Coaching Plan (ECP) with the goals of; 1) Elevating the quality of the English Coaching system and; 2) Changing the global perception of the English Coaching system. 

Key responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to manage the provision of world-leading coaching development to candidates identified by the Premier League and associated partners. The role will involve the design, delivery, management, evaluation and review of coach development provision both in the Premier League and across the professional game.
 
Key Function
  • To lead, design, deliver, manage, evaluate and review all Premier League coach development provision 
  • To support the ECP by leading allocated focus areas / projects
  • To support specific projects delivered through the ICS
  • To be the liaison between the Coaching Team and four allocated Premier League Clubs on matters relating to coaching and coach development, plus engaging and communicating with the relevant Academy and Club Support staff regarding these four clubs
Coach Development Programmes
  • Develop the framework (in collaboration with colleagues) for the unifying Coach Development Institute Programme (CDIP) that informs Coach Development Initiatives at the Premier League, including any associated external accreditation
  • Lead, design, develop, deliver, manage, evaluate and review Coach Development programmes including; Elite Coach and Elite Coach Accreditation Scheme (ECAS)
  • Contribute to and advise on the design, development, evaluation and review of Coach Development Programmes with a specific equality, diversity and inclusion focus, including: - Professional Player to Coach Scheme (PPCS) in partnership with the PFA and EFL - Premier League Coach Inclusion & Diversity Scheme (CIDS)
  • Provide support to the development of new coach development initiatives, including collaborative work with other partners
  • Design, develop and implement innovative open access online content for the coaching workforce in professional football
Learning and Development 
  • Provide support within the development and implementation of ICS workstreams
  • Contribute to wider coaching matters across the department including the development, implementation and delivery projects within the ECP 
  • Support the delivery of internal staff development 
  • Lead and manage focus areas and projects as determined by the ECP
Insights 
  • Work closely with the Coaching Planning and Projects Managers, and the Coaching Insights Executive to collect relevant data to contribute to the evaluation and measurement of the impact of Coach Development Programmes

Key responsibilites

Essentials
  • Level 4 sport coaching qualification (or above)
  • Successful track record of coach development in an elite or professional sport
  • Demonstrable experience of leading, designing, developing, delivering, managing and evaluating professional development programmes or initiatives
  • Understanding of the principles of athlete and coach Development in elite pathways
  • Understanding of the demands of senior performance environments
  • Relevant experience of working in a development and senior performance environment
  • High level communication (oral and written) skills 
  • High level emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills 
  • High level planning and organisational skills 
  • IT literate  
  • DBS clearance – to be obtained via Premier League, prior to job offer 
  • Possess a full driving licence as frequent travel will be required
