The USL Championship is one of the most successful professional soccer leagues in the world, reaching a population of more than 84 million and fueling the growth of the game across North America. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, the USL provides unparalleled club support with a growing team of more than 50 professionals across 17 departments, ranging from operations to marketing, communications and sponsorship. 
 
The USL Championship has a national media partnership with ESPN, wherein all league matches are broadcast on ESPN+, ESPN3 and across linear channels. The league also operates USL Productions, which includes a state-of-the-art facility that produced and distributed more than 500 league matches and more than 1,000 hours of original content to national partners, local affiliates and international markets throughout the 2018 season. 
  
Position Summary: 
The Vice President will lead a growing department in sponsorship sales, strategy, and execution on behalf of Hartford Athletic. Hartford Athletic is one of the fastest growing clubs in the USL Championship League with sponsorship experiencing year over year record growth.  Hartford Athletic's mission, “To make Greater Hartford a better place to live, work and play,” has resulted in a high profile, community-oriented 365/year partnership selling and activation cycle.
 
The position reports directly to the CEO/CRO, and interfaces collaboratively with the Director of Integrated Sales, Director of the HA Green & Blue Foundation 501©3, and the Marketing Department. The position also interfaces directly with the majority owner and ownership group. 
  
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Set and manage department sales and service expectations with CEO/CRO while working collaboratively with all departments for overall growth.
  • Manage with the Activation manager the organizational structure of the match day operational and sponsor experience.
  • Creatively drive partnership sales and service to maximize other departments with ticket sales, community engagement, marketing opportunities.
  • Work all game and event day set ups, activation, and take down with entire staff.  
 
Qualifications:
  • Experience in Sports Partnerships leadership role minimum of 3 years preferred including leading and managing others towards common growth and service goals.
  • Experience in sponsorship sales, writing creative, community-based proposals.
  • Knowledge of sales and use of marketing metrics, and ROI recap measurement on behalf of partners for strong renewal and win-win activation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience functioning in a 24/7 operating environment, including frequent work on nights and weekends.
  • Manage time effectively, with the ability to perform well with strict deadlines.
  • Be comfortable multi-tasking and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with coworkers, fans, vendors and sponsors.
  • Follow all policies, procedures and safety precautions established by the Club.
  • Access to a car, a clean driving record, proof of auto insurance and a valid driver’s license.
