Job Description

LCFC Women are looking to recruit key Academy Coaches to be part of the Academy’s coaching department, responsible for the social, technical, tactical and physical development of all players.

About the role 

You will deliver the LCFC Women Academy coaching programme, allowing every individual to reach their full potential in line with the Academy's vision and philosophy.

The key duties of the role will be to provide a high standard of coaching for the players at the Professional Development Phase and educating all players in line with the LCFC Women philosophy and methodology.

In addition, part of this role will be to support players who remain in education (inc FE/HE) or are part of the LCFC Women Education pathway.

You will also ensure realistic workloads are managed for players who remain in education and will work closely with key stakeholders external to the business e.g. the FA, schools, FE & HE establishment.

You will adhere to the Coaches Code of Conduct.


Who we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have significant experience of:

  • Working within open age football.
  • Young player/player development and knowledge of appropriate technique and skill development practices.
  • Working within an academy environment.
  • A clear understanding of the academy system and the professional football environment.
  • Addressing the different learning styles and using various methods to cater for all needs.
  • Understanding of how players learn and with this, can structure sessions that are appropriate to the players needs.
  • Models of player development.
  • Knowledge of key elements around technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the game.

The ideal candidate will have the following key skills and competencies:

  • A dynamic coach, excellent technician, demonstrator and educator – the ability to plan, deliver and bring about the desired session outcome.
  • Excellent coaching and delivery skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Monitor sessions with the ability to be flexible, adapt and/or amend session designs to bring about intensity, tempo and free flowing football with quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – the ability to effectively manage player, parent/guardian and staff relationships.
  • Excellent communicator, both verbally and on paper, placing high value on attention to detail.
  • High levels of customer service: promptly responding to queries, ensuring promises are kept and expectations managed.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • A proactive “can do” innovative attitude. Motivated, creative with a very strong work ethic.
  • Presents solutions rather than problems.
  • Enthusiastic and hard working.




  • Coaches must hold a minimum level of UEFA B and FA Youth Modules.
  • Holds an in-date FA Safeguarding Children Certificate or is willing to complete the FA Safeguarding Children Course within 3 months
  • Valid BFAS – Basic First Aid for Sport
  • Full UK Driving Licence - away travel required along with driving team minibus (depending on the team).

In May 2021, LCFC Women were promoted to the FA Women’s Super League. From its formation in 2004, the Club was run on an amateur and semi-professional basis with support from Leicester City Football Club. In August 2020, the Club turned professional after being acquired by King Power International – Leicester City’s parent company – and realigned as a core team in Leicester City’s football operation.

Contract Type  - Fixed-term 1 year
Hours Per Week  Maximum 8 hours per week – please be prepared to work unsocial hours.
