About South Georgia Tormenta FC:
Founded in 2015, South Georgia Tormenta FC is a professional soccer club based in Statesboro, Georgia. Tormenta FC competes in both the professional USL League One and the pre-professional USL League Two (formerly known as the Premier Development League), under the United Soccer League (USL), and has also established a thriving academy system throughout South Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina. The club seeks to play an exciting brand of soccer featuring elite local, national and international players. The club is constructing a new state-of-the-art 5,300-seat soccer-specific stadium in Statesboro. Planned to be built next to The Clubhouse on Old Register Road, the new venue will provide an exciting and authentic professional soccer experience for fans and players alike.

Position Overview:
Candidates should be highly motivated, passionate and driven individuals that are seeking hands-on experience in a fast-paced, interactive and professional sports environment. This position is designed to support the media relations department through producing content and working behind-the-scenes with social media analytics. The Communications & Social Media Coordinator must demonstrate a passion with cutting-edge social networking platforms and will implement the latest tools and techniques to grow the online brand. Hours range from 35-45 hours per week in addition to some special events that take place after work hours. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage aspects of multiple social media accounts, including community development and content creation.
  • Assist in the process of creating sharp, entertaining content (including but not limited to: blog posts, newsletters, Instagram and Facebook posts, Tweets, GIFs, images and short format videos) which engage the Tormenta FC audience across social channels.
  • Work with the team to produce engaging paid social content for Tormenta FC and its partners.
  • Support the media department with tracking and analysis of the team's social media accounts.

Job Requirements:
Required
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce high-quality, accurate work within designated deadlines.
  • Proficiency in use of Adobe Suite, including InDesign, and Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-energy environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships at all levels across the organization and externally.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • 1-2 years previous experience working in strategic public relations and communications.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.

Preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in public relations.
  • Sports organization, events or community engagement experience encouraged.
  • A strong knowledge of the soccer landscape, United Soccer League and Major League Soccer
