Optometric Technology Group Ltd, Optima Sport Vision (OSV) department, based in central London, is recruiting a Football Vision Specialist to work at a Premier League football club based in London, for the 2021/2022 season

The Role

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Prof Michel Guillon, the vision programme Director and in collaboration with elite football coaches to implement and contribute to the delivery and refinement of a bespoke football vision programme, developed over the past 15 years. The work will involve:

  • Carrying out football vision related measurements, using specialist equipment
  • Carrying out football vision training sessions to both youth and senior players
  • Integration within the club's performance department
  • Working closely with OSV 's wider team to develop and refine the training programme based on feedback from coaching/performance staff
  • Recording data and documenting findings for future analysis

The position is based at the Premier League club's training complex with occasional meetings at OSV clinic in central London and possible travel to away matches. The successful candidate will be required to work variable hours, including weekends and evenings due to the requirements of the position.

Minimum Requirements`

  • Experience of working within a performance department at a football club or in another sport at an elite Level
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field at the 2:1 level (e.g. Sports Science, Sport Psychology, Optometry and STEM fields)
  • Knowledge and passion for working in a football environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Proactive and trustworthy
  • Ability to reliably collect data for further analysis
  • IT skills and understanding of Mac & Windows operating systems
  • Literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Google Docs/Sheets
  • Willing to work extended and unusual hours, including evenings and weekends
  • `Experience in vision related fields


  • Masters level qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Sports Science, Sport Psychology, Optometry and STEM fields)
  • Football related qualifications


£30,000 to £40,000 per annum based upon experience

Contract length: 12 months
