Job Description

North Alabama SC, a youth soccer club in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking an outstanding individual to join our staff as a full-time salary exempt Assistant Director of Coaching (ADOC) that serves as a Program Director reporting directly to the Director of Coaching (DOC). The ADOC will have opportunities to assist with the men’s National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) team, Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team, WPSL U21 team, and Development Player League (DPL) program as well as earn additional compensation through coaching camps and other North Alabama SC hosted programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Team selection, coordination and oversight, including supervise training of teams, evaluate coaches at games, monitor progress, and support coach and player evaluations
  • Support the development and evaluation of the North Alabama SC curriculum and level of play.
  • Assist DOC with coach education/development program.
  • Support in the development and execution of the Club’s technical programs.
  • Supervise, manage, and lead all coaches and support technical staff for your assigned 13U-19U program age groups.
  • Support and help develop and implement values driven programming. 
  • Assist the DOC with year-end planning and Club performance evaluation.
  • Support, prepare, and supervise tryouts.
  • Promote North Alabama SC within the community by communicating to all constituents: parents, coaches, players, and the community.
  • Support the outreach program to grow the North Alabama SC player base in surrounding communities.
  • Support North Alabama SC recreational programs.

Operational

  • Support all Club-based activities: tryouts, scheduling, camps, clinics, tournaments, marketing, outreach, etc. and other activities as assigned by the DOC.
  • Perform daily administrative duties to support the assigned age groups and teams.
  • Perform business related tasks to support outreach and support services programs activities.
  • Actively pursue professional development through conferences, clinics, licensing, etc.
  • Actively assist in promoting the mission of the Club throughout North Alabama, the State and region.
  • Coach and or train up to 2-3 teams per season.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit potential players to the Club.
  • Establish office and field hours as directed by the DOC.
  • Contribute written materials for manuals, articles, website, etc.
  • Support and coordinate the curriculum for all North Alabama SC sponsored camps.
  • Schedule coaching cover for practices and games for your assigned 13U-19U program age groups.
  • Observe and evaluate games and practices for your assigned 13U-19U teams to provide assistance and guidance to the players and coaches.
  • Develop a tournament schedule for the your assigned 13U-19U program age group teams to ensure proper team and player development goals are met.
  • Support the college recruiting program and educate players and parents on college playing opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a USSF ‘C’ License or United Soccer Coaches (USC) equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Goal keeper certification is preferred but not required.
  • Significant coaching experience at the club/college level, preferably in a leadership position.
  • Experience playing at a high level (college or professional preferred).
  • Demonstrated organizational, managerial, communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Office and Google Application Suite skills

Work Environment

  • Sustain office hours of 4-hours per day during the season and 8-hours per day during the off season.
  • Weekend hours and extended weekly hours during peak tournament, camp, and club program seasons.
  • Position may require lifting, moving, pushing, and pulling of equipment.
  • Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures across all seasons for reasonable periods of time.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate games and tournaments. This includes nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Minimum of a USSF ‘C’ License or United Soccer Coaches (USC) equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prefer 5 years coaching or directing in youth soccer programs.
  • Goal keeper certification is preferred but not required.
  • Significant coaching experience at the club and/or college level, preferably in a leadership position.
  • Experience playing at a high level (college or semi-pro/pro preferred).
  • Demonstrated organizational, managerial, communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Office and Google Application Suite skills
