Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC) is the award-winning, official charity of Burnley Football Club.

We work hard every day to deliver our mission to inspire, support and deliver change to communities across Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, the Ribble Valley and West Yorkshire.

We work with over 70 local, regional and national partners in five key areas: Sport, Education, Health, Social Inclusion and Community Facilities. Our highly skilled, dynamic and passionate team now deliver over 50 community projects that touch the lives of a huge spectrum of people in and around Burnley. From children and young people right through to senior citizens.

Day-by-day the outreach of our work is growing and along with our brand-new state of the art leisure facility – Leisure Box, Whitehough Outdoor Activity Centre and UCFB at Turf Moor; truly exciting things are happening at Burnley FC in the Community.

The charity is now looking to recruit to the role of Marketing Officer within the Marketing team.

The successful candidate will assist with the marketing and communications strategy for the Charity’s facilities portfolio with a particular focus on The Leisure Box in Brierfield and Whitehough Outdoor Education Centre in Barley. Though the role will primarily be based at the Turf Moor stadium, it will require a minimum of one day’s work on site at either The Leisure Box or Whitehough.

We would like to recruit an individual who has strong communication skills, is a creative thinker and has meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate must be friendly and have a proven track record of managing social media channels.

Reporting to the Marketing and Events Manager, the Marketing Officer will be expected to:

  • Assist with the delivery of the charity’s digital and offline marketing strategy with a particular focus on the portfolio of facilities including the Leisure Box in Brierfield and Whitehough Outdoor Education Centre in Barley.
  • Managing and updating Burnley FC in the Community’s multiple WordPress websites.
  • Implementing evidence-based improvements in content and website structure that enhance user experience and support the goals of our charity.
  • Managing Burnley FC in the Community’s multiple associated social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn – uploading compelling content and managing all queries.
  • Taking the lead on the charity’s email marketing campaigns from design and testing, to delivery.
  • Management the charity’s booking system, creating all course and event bookings and managing associated data.
  • Creating and developing new, innovative ways to communicate the charity’s messages to new and existing supporters.
  • Supporting all general marketing and event requirements, as delegated by the Marketing and Events Manager.
  • Working closely with the wider marketing and events team to ensure the delivery of the charity’s marketing and events strategy to the highest standard.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to this role.
  • To be able to work flexible and unsociable hours where the role of the job requires.
  • To work towards agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure the service is delivered and managed in accordance with the Charity’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all Charity policies.
  • Promote the Burnley FC in the Community brand and ethos in a professional, strong and positive manner.
  • Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the organisation as and when required to promote best practice.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.

  • Strong communicator with exceptional written skills.
  • Proven track record of managing social media channels, WordPress websites and email databases.
  • Creative thinker.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • A friendly, positive ‘can do’ and courteous attitude.
  • A commitment to the aims, vision and values of Burnley FC in the Community.
  • Willingness to have a full DBS check.


  • Full clean driving license with access to own transport.
  • Copywriting experience.
  • Experience of managing online booking systems.
  • A passion for the community and making a difference.
