Job Description

Embedded in the dynamic Commercial Team at Portsmouth FC, this role will be responsible for supporting the Marketing, Sponsorship and Media departments. 


The role will require a well-rounded individual that can work efficiently in supporting the current team whilst bringing fresh ideas to the department.


Reporting directly into the club’s marketing manager you will support the club’s ongoing current marketing campaigns, whilst also managing and creating the club’s email marketing.


As part of the club’s commercial team, the successful candidate will also support the club’s sponsorship account manager in the delivering of club partner assets across the club’s digital channels.

When working alongside the media department you will be required produce marketing and commercial articles for publication on the club’s. They may also be required to help produce content for the club’s various media channels, including social media.


To be successful in the role, we are looking for a self-motivated, hard-working individual who is a team player and has a good work ethic with a willingness to work across a wide variety of projects within the commercial team.


You will also be required to work matchdays during the football season.




The role will be based at the home of Portsmouth Football Club, Fratton Park.




  • Delivery of email marketing campaigns
  • Identifying new ways to increase size of Portsmouth FC database
  • Delivering specific elements of marketing campaigns for home matchdays, Fratton Park events and season tickets
  • Supporting the development and growth of reciprocal partnerships within the city
  • Researching and monitoring campaigns and promotions within the sports industry and collating suggestions on how they can be implemented at Portsmouth FC
  • Attending exhibitions and events to represent Portsmouth FC
  • Leading on Pompey Lottery marketing campaigns, content creation and fundraising events
  • Supporting club sponsorship account manager on the delivery of partnership assets
  • Production of marketing and commercial articles for publication on the clubs website
  • Supporting the promotion of the official club shop and memorabilia store




  • Degree or equivalent in Marketing
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • IT Literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Photoshop)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good understanding of CRM, digital advertising and database management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively as an individual
  • Passionate/Good knowledge of Football
