North Carolina FC Youth (NCFC Youth) is a non-profit youth soccer organization home to more than 16,000 players (ages 2.5-19) and their families each year. Through full-service programming, NCFC Youth offers youth soccer for all levels of play – from Recreation and outreach programs up to the highest levels of elite competition. In addition, NCFC Youth hosts tournaments, camps, and other events to ensure the best player development opportunities.  NCFC Youth’s on and off field operations are supported by more than 1,700 personnel including full-time staff, seasonal coaches, and volunteer coaches.

The Position: The Discovery Phase Program Director is a full-time role that is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and execution of the KickStarters, PreK, and Kindergarten Programs. This position could be paired with a coaching role depending on the candidate.



Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the oversight and administration of the KickStarters, Pre-K and Kindergarten divisions with support from Recreation Director.
  • Assist Recreation Director with overall running of the recreation program.
  • Work in conjunction with Recreation Director to schedule KickStarters and Pre-K sessions.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and risk-manage paid staff coaches for KickStarters and Pre-K programs, including background checks, SafeSport, and required certifications.
  • Partner with HR to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance for all KickStarters and Pre-K staff.
  • Secure coaches (Head Coach and Assistant Coach) for all Kindergarten teams and ensure completion of all risk management requirements.
  • Oversee equipment and apparel systems for coaching staff, aligning ordering, inventory, and distribution with program needs and seasonal timelines.
  • Observe and evaluate programs/teams/coaches within your divisions during the fall and spring season.
  • Provide exemplary customer service by assisting with parents/volunteers/coaches when they call or come into the office if they need help or have questions. Stay attentive and responsive to email/voicemail (24hrs during the week 48hrs on the weekend).
  • Proactively review and improve the curriculum and coaching education for your responsible divisions.
  • Complete all grassroots coaching education courses through US Soccer.
  • Become proficient and familiar with US Club Soccer rules and regulations about the registration of players, registration of coaches, and risk management process.
  • Continually strive to improve the efficiency, communication, and organization of the entire program.
  • Become an expert with all aspects of PlayMetrics required to review player accounts, answer questions about teams, and track and manage volunteer coaches.
  • Assist with any NCFC event/function/program as assigned by Recreation Director/Director of Soccer.
  • Mandatory reporter of abuse. Must report all suspected abuse within 24 hours using the Abuse Prevention Report.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.



Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Required education: High School Diploma
  • Preferred education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Coaching Experience: 3+ years



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of audiences.
  • Basic understanding of youth soccer landscape.
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.



Preferred Skills

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Bilingual



Job Type Requirements:

  • Full time, salaried position.
  • Typical office hours will be Mon, Weds, Thurs, and Fri 9:00-2:00pm. During peak times of July & August and January & February additional hours may need to be worked.
  • Typical on field hours will be Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sat, Sun as determined by the schedule of the teams coached and programs directing.



Work Environment/Travel/Physical Demands:

  • Most of this person’s job is conducted in the office, but occasionally, work will require this employee to attend outdoor youth sporting events during all seasons, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather, to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Physical demands: Ability to bend, lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes more than 40lbs.
