Job Title:
Men's Reserve Manager

Job Purpose: The Men’s Reserve Manager will take the lead for Wanderers’ Saturday Men's Reserve team. The squad is currently comprised of a mix of young, raw talent and experienced leaders.

The focus of the role is matchdays but participation or delivering training on Tuesday or Thursday evenings is also welcome.

Responsibilities: The tasks of the Men's Reserve Manager are as follows;

  • Build and develop a squad of players who can challenge for success,
  • Attract and recruit players to join Wanderers,
  • Develop good relationships with both existing and new players,
  • Take charge of the team on matchdays, including fulfilling all administrative obligations set out by the competition (e.g. completing and submitting teamsheets, liaising with match officials and opponents on matchdays, entering match data online),
  • (Optional) Attend Club Committee meetings and AGMs,

Key Relationships: The Men’s Reserve Manager will work closely with Saturday Men’s 1sts Coach and Club Secretary.

Appointment & Tenure: The Men’s Reserves Manager will hold the post for a rolling period of 12 months.

Time Commitment: The role requires the post-holder to be an active participant in Wanderers Football Club. On average, the Men’s Reserves Manager will need to set aside;

  • 1-2 hours per week in which to complete the administrative duties of the role,
  • 3-5 hours each weekend for matches, including travel, preparation, and the match itself.
  • NB. If you are applying in a Player / Coach capacity, you will be expected to attend training sessions, which would add 2-3 hours per week, including travel.

Qualifications and Experience: We require any candidate to have one or more of the following qualifications and experience;

  • Current FA coaching qualification (minimum FA Level 1),
  • Previous experience within a football club,
  • Any experience working with age-specific sports teams, and players from a range of backgrounds and abilities.

Knowledge and Skills: The Men's Reserves Manager should ideally have the following organisational and personal skills;

  • Good level of footballing knowledge, specific to the rules, tactics, and particulars of the modern game,
  • Good interpersonal skills with understanding of negotiation, conflict management, and leadership of a team,
  • Effective communication and organisational skills,
  • Trustworthy and adherence to codes of conduct and ethics.

Contract Terms: The Men’s Reserves Manager position is a voluntary role, but the post-holder will receive the following benefits;

  • Wanderers FC branded clothing for use within the scope of the role up to a value of £60 per annum,
  • (If Player / Coach) Annual Membership, training fees, and match subs waived
