Job Description

We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Safeguarding Manager to help create a safe, supportive, and positive environment across the Club—where children, young people, and protected adults are valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.

In this vital role, you’ll lead our Children and Young People's Wellbeing Strategy 2022-2027. You will work closely with the SFA, Disclosure Scotland, and local partners such as Police and Social Work.

You’ll be the driving force behind a culture where safety and wellbeing come first.

What you’ll do:

  • Reporting to the Head of Legal and Governance, you will provide evidence based updates to the club's Executive Board
  • Provide strategic safeguarding guidance and advice across all areas including, but not limited to Match Day Operations, Celtic FC Foundation, Young Hoops, Celtic FC Academy, Women's Football and Celtic FC Soccer Academy.
  • Assume role of lead signatory with Disclosure Scotland for the club in relation to Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme
  • Build strong relationships with key safeguarding bodies and ensure compliance with best practice and legislation
  • Ensure the deliver and review of the Children & Young People’s Wellbeing Strategy 2022-2027
  • Provide strategic oversight and direction to the wellbeing team for Celtic FC Academy and Women's Football
  • Manage safeguarding complaints/concerns across all areas
  • Maintain and review Child Wellbeing and Protection Policies and Adult Protection Policies across the club
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the club and as well as externally, including SFA, Disclosure Scotland, Police, Education and Social Work
  • Champion children’s rights and promote best practice across the Club
  • Promote children’s rights and uphold the principles of the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child)

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified to degree-level in a relevant discipline such as social work or education
  • Experience in investigations and complaints handling
  • Experience of managing and leading people
  • Extensive knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice
  • Empathetic, approachable, and able to handle sensitive situations with discretion
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Flexible approach with evening/weekend availability and a full driving licence
