Preston North End Community and Education Trust (PNECET) is the official charity of Preston North End FC, a professional football club based in Preston, Lancashire, competing in the Sky Bet Championship. At PNECET, we employ over 50 full-time staff who all help to promote and deliver the life-enhancing work of the charity.

Summary
Preston North End Community and Education Trust (PNECET) seeks a Higher Education Mentor to support the delivery of our degree programmes in partnership with the University of South Wales (USW) and EFL in the Community.
This exciting role will involve delivering engaging lectures and tutorials, providing pastoral and academic support, and coordinating work-based learning placements across the Football Coaching, Sports Coaching, and Sports Business Management degree programmes.
Based at Deepdale Stadium, the home of Preston North End FC, this is a full-time role offering a salary of £24,000 - £26,000, depending on experience. The position provides the opportunity to inspire the next generation of sports professionals while gaining experience in higher education delivery within a leading football community setting.

Responsibilities
- Deliver and facilitate lectures, tutorials, and workshops for students across the Football Coaching, Sports Coaching, and Sports Business Management degree programmes.
- Provide one-to-one and group mentoring to support academic progress, personal development, and employability.
- Coordinate high-quality, work-based learning placements with programme leads, internal teams, employers, and education providers.
- Support student recruitment and retention through open days, interviews, and community engagement activities.
- Contribute to maintaining academic quality and consistency across all programmes in line with University of South Wales standards.
- Build relationships with local and national employers to enhance placement opportunities and graduate pathways.
- Provide a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student wellbeing and professional growth.
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant field (Sport, Education, or related discipline) – essential
- Postgraduate qualification or teaching qualification (PGCE, PGCHE, or equivalent) – desirable
- Experience delivering or supporting higher or further education programmes – essential
- Experience mentoring or coaching young people and supporting their personal and professional development – essential
- Strong communication, presentation, and organisational skills – essential
- Experience building partnerships with employers, education providers, and community organisations – desirable
- Knowledge of the UK higher education system and work-based learning – desirable
- Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends – essential
Working Arrangements
- Full-time position based at Deepdale Stadium, Preston.
- Regular travel to community venues across Lancashire.
- Two residential visits per year to the University of South Wales campus in Cardiff.
- Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends for recruitment or residential activities.
