Motherwell FC’s “Women of Steel’ currently play in the Scottish Premier League and we have an exciting opportunity as the Club’s part-time Women’s First Team Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- To manage all on and off field football activities for the first team
- To ensure that all players and staff are provided with coaching and support to enable them to compete and perform at the highest level
- To ensure we have a competitive squad of players with a desire to succeed to their fullest potential
- To be responsible for the recruitment and selection of players
- To interact with the Girls Football Academy
- To ensure that all expenditure falls within the allocated annual budget
- To negotiate all clearances and player registrations in accordance with appropriate SFA and SWPL rules
- Ensure the club's policies and standards are adhered to
- Represent the club at relevant SWPL & SFA Meetings
- Oversee all operational communication with opponents and the SWPL, ensuring timely, accurate information flow and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Manage and allocate kit allowances for all players and staff, ensuring compliance with club policies and league regulations.
- Handle all administrative processes involving parent clubs, including player registrations, loan documentation, contractual requirements, and ongoing liaison.
- Take full responsibility for matchday setup, including venue preparation, equipment organisation, logistics coordination, and ensuring all operational standards are met.
- Serve as a central contact point for communication with both internal stakeholders (coaching staff, players, club departments) and external stakeholders (officials, league personnel, partner clubs).
- To help to enable a best-in-class support staff network across technical, medical, sports science and player support services to deliver a high-performance environment.
- To further enable a united and compelling Motherwell brand and one club approach.
- To assist developing a women and girls’ strategy for women’s and girls’ football that helps to deliver the Scottish FA’s and SWPL strategies for women’s football and girls academies.
We are seeking a driven and experienced individual who meets the following criteria:
- Holds (or is currently working towards) a UEFA A or Pro Licence
- A proven track record in a managerial football position (preferably within Women’s football), delivering strong performance and results through outstanding leadership
- A proven ability to identify, recruit and develop talent
- Coach mentoring experience
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build meaningful, strong strategic relationships with club staff
- Understanding of learning, development and high performance with a proven ability to create optimum learning environments for players
- Track record of consistently high performance in a professional environment
- A good understanding of budget and expenditure controls
- An understanding of the SFA Women’s and Girl's player pathway
- Resilience and ability to work efficiently under pressure
- A full and valid driving licence and the ability to travel independently
- An enhanced PVG check will be required
