The Role:
This role is focused on the design, delivery, and operation of modern cloud and platform services, while maintaining strong integration with on-premise infrastructure. The successful candidate will take ownership of Azure-centric platforms, supporting scalable, secure, and resilient services that underpin the club’s technology ecosystem.
The role includes critical matchday support and close collaboration with data science and cyber security teams to ensure platforms meet operational, analytical, and compliance requirements.
Cloud & Platform Engineering
- Design, deploy, and operate scalable platforms across Azure and AWS, with Azure as the primary cloud environment.
- Own platform availability, performance, cost optimisation, and security posture.
- Implement and maintain cloud security principles, monitoring, and governance.
- Work closely with Technology and Data Science teams to support, secure, and monitor cloud-hosted platforms and services.
Hybrid Infrastructure & Endpoint Support
- Provide 3rd line support across M365, Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot, and Windows Server environments.
- Support hybrid infrastructure including virtual machines, storage, networking, and secure Wi-Fi.
- Create and maintain desktop and laptop build templates for corporate devices.
- Support stadium systems including access control, ticketing, EPOS, and matchday operations.
Security & Compliance
- Configure and manage Entra ID, RBAC, PIM, Key Vault, Conditional Access, and Defender integrations.
- Partner with the Cyber Security team to maintain secure, compliant, and resilient platforms.
- Monitor platforms, respond to incidents, and continuously improve security configurations and policies.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate across cloud, data science, cyber security, and infrastructure teams to design and support shared platforms.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Manage relationships with IT partners (e.g. DXC, TeamViewer) to deliver contracted services and solutions.

The Senior Cloud & Platform Engineer must demonstrate strong expertise across modern cloud platforms and supporting technologies.
Essential Skills
- Cloud Platforms: Azure (primary), AWS, Entra ID, M365
- Security: Microsoft Defender suite, Sentinel, RBAC, PIM
- Networking Principles: vNet, VLAN, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, DNS, Firewalls, Load Balancers
- Compute & Storage: Azure VMs, Hypervisors, Azure Files, SharePoint / OneDrive
- Endpoint Management: Intune, Autopilot, Conditional Access
- Soft Skills: Calm under pressure, strong mentoring ability, effective stakeholder engagement
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting web-based applications, IIS, and SQL Server
- CI/CD and automation experience (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
- Scripting with PowerShell and/or Python
- Good understanding of macOS, iOS, and mixed-device environments
- Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy
- Experience operating within security and compliance standards
- Strong documentation skills

- Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into platform solutions
- Experience mentoring and supporting IT Helpdesk and junior engineers
- Strong customer service mindset
- Proactive approach to improving platform reliability, efficiency, and security
- Practical understanding of ITIL processes and compliance standards such as ISO27001
