BACKGROUND

Orlando Pirates Football Club is looking for a Set Piece Coach to join the broader First Team technical team. The Set Piece Coach is a tactical specialist responsible for maximising the team's performance in all set-piece situations (Attacking and Defensive). This role involves thorough analysis, meticulous planning, and the ability to expertly coach both offensive and defensive set-piece strategies. The successful candidate is expected to bring a data-informed and tactically creative approach to set-piece situations, collaborating closely with the Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, Performance Analysts, and wider technical staff to deliver measurable impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assume a leadership role for the planning, delivery, and review of all set-piece situations including but not limited to:

o   Corners (Attacking and Defensive)

o   Direct and In-Direct free kicks

o   Throw-Ins

o   Penalties

Maintain a comprehensive database of the team's own set-piece statistics and performance.

Develop creative routines, integrating movement patterns, disguise, and delivery strategies.

Align with the Head Coach’s tactical principles and lead segments in training, ensuring clarity and consistency.

Keep up to date on the latest set-piece trends and innovations across top leagues.

Utilise video analysis software and data to evaluate set-piece effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.

Analyse set-piece performance data and provide key metrics to the Technical Director for use in board and strategy meetings.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The successful candidate must hold a Coaching License and have a proven record in set piece design. The successful candidate is expected to have a technical and tactical knowledge of the latest trends. The ability to use analysis software will be beneficial
