Role Purpose
To support the Team’s Head Coach in delivering effective and enjoyable training sessions and matchday coaching. The Assistant Coach plays a key role in creating a positive, safe and inclusive environment where players can learn, grow, and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Session & Match Support
- Assist with planning, setting up, and delivering training sessions
- Lead small-group or individual drills during training
- Support matchday preparations, warm-ups, and substitutions
- Provide encouragement, tactical feedback, and role modelling
- Help monitor player attendance and engagement
Player Development & Wellbeing
- Build positive relationships with players
- Support individuals with skill or confidence challenges
- Promote enjoyment, and good team spirit
- Encourage personal development and progress in football
Safeguarding & Welfare
- Ensure sessions and matches are safe and players welfare attended to
- Follow club safeguarding policies and report any concerns
- Maintain DBS and required certifications
Club Contribution
- Attend team meetings and CPD sessions
- Assist with team admin, e.g., attendance, kit, comms (if needed)
- Contribute to welcoming team culture
Essential Requirements
- FA Introduction to Coaching Football / FA Level 1
- FA Safeguarding Children or Adults Certification
- Emergency First Aid in Football (or willingness to complete)
- Enhanced DBS check (through club or FA)
- Coaching experience, leading sessions or groups
Desirable Attributes
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and collaborative
- Willingness to learn and develop coaching skills
- Passionate about women's football and player-centred coaching
Time Commitment
- Weekly training session (Wednesdays Whittington Park - times vary per age group/team)
- Weekly matchday (Sat youth or Sun adult)
