Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced National Youth Scouting Manager to lead the identification and recruitment of talented players aged U13–U18 across the national landscape.

 

This role will play a pivotal part in aligning scouting operations with the broader Academy strategy, ensuring we continue to attract and develop the most promising young players. You will oversee a team of national scouts, driving excellence and consistency in talent identification processes.

 

As a senior figure within the Academy Recruitment Department, you will shape our national recruitment framework and help strengthen our reputation as a leading environment for player development.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate scouting activity across regional and national fixtures.
• Manage the development of long lists for players of interest, in line with the Academy’s recruitment strategy.
• Support the Head of Academy Talent ID with cross-checking and validation of target players across both local and national landscapes.
• Oversee the monitoring and flow of player and fixture reports from across the national network.
• Attend Home Nations youth international fixtures as directed, tracking player activities and development.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, clubs, and contacts within your regions of influence.
• Contribute to succession planning for players in relevant age groups alongside other Talent ID and Recruitment staff.
• Support player transitions out of the Academy, helping them find suitable next opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with the wider Academy Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) on both recruitment and player development matters.

 

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Phase Recruitment Manager or in a leadership role within youth recruitment.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in youth recruitment.
• Strong network and influence across the UK’s youth recruitment landscape.
• FA Talent ID Level 3 Qualification (minimum).
• Excellent presentation and IT skills.
• Demonstrates the highest personal and professional standards.
