Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Revenue Controller to join the Finance team at Chelsea Football Club. This pivotal role will lead the Revenue Team and be responsible for the accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of all revenue streams across the club. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring robust financial control, with a particular focus on ticketing revenue.

 

You’ll be: (Responsibilities)

  • Revenue Oversight & Control
    • Owning the end-to-end revenue recognition process across all income streams.
    • Ensuring timely and accurate posting of revenue journals.
    • Maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Revenue Streams Covered:
    • Ticketing (matchday and non-matchday) – experience with ticketing systems is highly desirable.

    • Programmes
    • Meetings & Events
    • Megastore / Merchandising
    • Stadium Tours & Museum
    • Football Development & Soccer Schools
    • Car Parks
    • Property rental
    • Special events
  • Balance Sheet & Reconciliations
    • Owning all balance sheet reconciliations related to revenue streams.
    • Ensuring reconciliations are completed accurately and on time, with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Handling of reconciliation of refund requests
    • Through the clubs ticketing ‘exchange’ system
    • Ad-hoc customer refunds (ticketing, hospitality, car parks and other on-match day event) 
    • Away game payments
    • Donation payments to Foundation
  • Team Leadership
    • Managing and developing a team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Overseeing daily operations of the Revenue Team, ensuring high performance and accuracy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborating with Commercial, Hosptality, Ticketing, Retail, and Events teams to ensure accurate revenue capture.
    • Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors on revenue-related matters.

 

You’ll have: (Experience & Qualifications)

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in revenue accounting and financial control.
  • Experience handling and reconciling high volumes of cashless transactions.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a small team.
  • Excellent Excel and financial systems skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a sports, entertainment, or events environment.
  • Familiarity with ticketing & hospitality systems (e.g., Ticketmaster, AXS, SeatGeek, Triple Jump Technologies).
  • Familiarity with EPOS & Softwares (e.g., Sport Fusion (Tours & Museum/Soccer School), Medoc (Megastore), Stadion/Retool (App order F&B/Merchandise))
  • Familiarity with Payment Providers/Gateways and Payment channels: (e.g., Adyen, Stripe, Fiserv-Clover, NMI, Prommt, Chargebee)
  • Experience with Finance & ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, WorkDay, Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics).
