The Opportunity

Stevenage FC is seeking a visionary, commercially-minded leader to drive the execution of our newly defined brand, media, and marketing strategy — positioning media as a core pillar of the club’s next phase of commercial growth.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a forward-thinking football media and marketing operation — blending content, creativity, and data to accelerate audience growth, deepen engagement, and drive commercial performance.

As Head of Marketing, you’ll take ownership of the club’s media and marketing function at a pivotal moment in our journey. This is a leadership role with a clear runway to develop into Stevenage FC’s first Chief Marketing Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of the club’s brand, media, and marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and long-term growth ambitions.
  • Oversee and grow the Media & Marketing department, developing the existing team and recruiting new talent to execute the club’s strategy.
  • Deliver high-impact, insight-led campaigns across digital, social, content, email, and traditional channels to drive audience growth, engagement, and revenue.
  • Grow and monetise the club’s audience, driving performance across ticketing, retail, hospitality, partnerships, and identifying new commercial revenue streams.
  • Manage the club’s content calendar and digital output.
  • Own performance tracking, using data to inform decisions, optimise spend, and measure impact.
  • Scale CRM and data capture initiatives to enable targeted communication, improve personalisation, and increase fan loyalty and lifetime value.
  • Work cross-functionally across departments, supporting partner activations and ensuring consistent messaging across all club touchpoints.

Who We’re Looking For

This role requires a rare blend of strategic thinking, executional excellence, and leadership ability. We’re looking for someone who understands how brand, media, and audience growth drives commercial impact — and is motivated by the opportunity to be a key part of an innovative football club.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in a senior marketing role, ideally within football, sport, media, or entertainment.
  • A track record of growing engaged audiences and converting attention into commercial outcomes - including ticketing, retail, partnerships, digital monetisation, and developing new revenue opportunities.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing media and marketing teams, with a collaborative leadership style and the ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
  • Deep expertise in digital-first brand building, with experience leveraging both short and long-form content across multiple platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder and partner management skills, with the confidence to collaborate effectively with agencies, creatives, and senior internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management and performance tracking skills, with a focus on using data to inform decisions and measure impact.
  • A passion for football, paired with a strong understanding of fan culture, modern consumption trends, and the evolving sports media landscape.
