<br> We strive for excellence in the workplace with a philosophy of high standards, professionalism, and a strong work ethic from our employees. We are constantly trying to grow, diversify and build with not only our team on the pitch, but also our team in the offices and on the ground.

About this role:

The Editorial Executive will work closely within the Marcomms department to tell stories from across the club, with a particular focus on leading our Academy editorial and social media output.

Working with Academy staff and the wider media team to ensure consistent, engaging, and accurate storytelling, the successful candidate will highlight the progress and achievements of the U18 and U21 teams across digital media in the form of website and App articles; regular contributions to our matchday programme; and day-to-day running of our Academy Twitter/X account.

Working primarily from our central London office, with regular visits to the Academy Training Ground and Selhurst Park, the successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for Academy media content, playing a key role in growing awareness of the club future stars while supporting broader club communications and campaigns when needed.

When applying, please include a portfolio of up to three written pieces which you feel best showcase your editorial content production skills. Please include this on the Supporting Statement Section.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within the website and App team, and across the wider Marcomms department, to ideate and produce regular stories for the Crystal Palace website and App.

  • Be a regular presence at the Academy, and develop strong relationships with Academy staff, to stay informed on news and updates, ensuring appropriate coverage across all channels.
  • Take full ownership of the CPFC Academy Twitter/X account; tracking occasions, briefing assets, and maintaining regular posts to drive engagement and reach.
  • Cover the majority of U18 and U21 matchdays (with shifts and subsequent time off in lieu to be agreed with the Editorial & Product Manager).
    • This includes publishing match reports, and relevant social and web/app updates.
    • Please note that the large majority of matches can be covered remotely from our broadcast studio at Selhurst Park.

  • Source and share team line-ups for Academy matches.
  • Produce regular written content for the matchday programme.
  • Liaise with the video team to ensure match highlights are delivered and promoted.
  • Promote live Academy match broadcasts to drive viewership on Palace TV+.
  • Continuously assess and define the role to enhance Academy coverage, balancing workload across departments as needed.
  • Support the wider web and social teams with additional content, when Academy commitments allow.

Time Management:

  • Academy content is the core focus of this role.
  • When capacity allows, collaborative planning with senior content leads (Matt, Robin and Sammy) will determine involvement in wider club content or projects.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
  • Upholding and promoting the Club policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in journalism, digital content creation, or media production, preferably within a sports or football environment.
  • Strong editorial skills, with an eye for engaging storytelling and attention to detail.
  • Social media experience, with an appreciation of content strategy, particularly on Twitter/X.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships across departments and with Academy staff.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects and shift focus based on priorities.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to working with youth players and safeguarding requirements.
  • A passion for football and youth development, and a proactive, team-first attitude.
  • Basic photography and video editing skills (e.g. working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop/Premiere Pro, or equivalent) would be an advantage, but are not required.
