Job Description

The Role:

The main purpose of the job is to ensure the club provides a team to compete in league and cup competitions, or, in the case of mini soccer, to run a team or teams that play friendly fixtures against
other clubs in the same age group. The manager/ coach will be expected to develop the abilities of players so that they achieve their maximum potential, at whatever level that might be. The Manager is responsible for all aspects of activity regarding the team, and it is expected that the team will train weekly on at least one mid-week evening during the season.

The Requirements:

The club requires the minimum FA Qualification of the Level 1 Coaching Football Award, which includes first aid and child protection, for all Team managers, and this must be renewed at the required intervals. Failure to renew will mean that the manager cannot continue to run the team. The club will assist you in obtaining this award during the season if you do not already qualify. You will be required to submit to a Full DBS check led by the club's Child Welfare Officer before being allowed to manage a team. Failure to obtain clearance from the FA will mean that you cannot manage a team or be involved in any way in the running of a team.

The Tasks:

Weekly:

  • Team selection;
  • Organisation of coaching and training;
  • Organisation of transport to away games - Managers are not responsible for arranging players' transport.
  • Team kit and equipment to be maintained (players will normally be responsible for washing their kit).
  • Reporting the results of games after matches to the Fixtures Secretary for the age group, so they can be sent to the league, and completing any report of bad behaviour by another team or club official to go to the Club Secretary.

Monthly:

  • Attend meetings of club managers as arranged (usually every other month or at least three meetings per season, excluding the Annual General Meeting).

Once Per Season:

  • Registration of players at the beginning of a season or new players during the season, as required by the Club Registration Secretary.
  • Attend the Club's End of Season Award Presentation Day.
