About The Role & Who We’re Scouting

We’re on the lookout for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our squad at Leicester City Football Club. 

As the apprentice within the  Sports Turf & Grounds team's workshop, you will assist in the maintenance, repair, and servicing of all groundskeeping and facility equipment while undergoing a structured training program. Under the guidance of experienced technicians and the Workshop Manager, the apprentice will learn essential mechanical and technical skills, contributing to the smooth operation of the workshop.

Whilst no specific previous experience is required, the successful candidate will;

• Have a strong interest in mechanical engineering, automotive technology, or a relevant alternative field
• GCSE pass grade in Maths and English (with other relevant subjects such as Physics or Design & Technology seen as beneficial)
• Willingness and commitment to continuous learning towards the successful completion of the Apprenticeship end point assessment
• Have a basic understanding of mechanical principles and tools
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods (the role is primarily workshop-based with the occasional need for outdoor work)

Core duties within the role will include;

• Learning and development - participation in a structured apprenticeship program
• Maintenance and repair assistance - this includes routine maintenance tasks on a variety of sports turf equipment
• Equipment operation - learn and develop skills in the operation of workshop tools and machinery in a safe and efficient manner
• Demonstrate an understanding of Health & Safety rules and ensure compliance at all times
• Accurate record keeping
• Collaboration with the wider Sports Turf & Grounds team
